Re: How bad was your dozer when you got it?
I found mine under a tree, rear backhoe attachment and arm fully extended on the tree, parked behind two 53' storage semi trailers so no way to tow out, and have to be able to retract the hoe arm,had to fix it and drive it out, started right up but PO did not know what's wrong with the backhoe so af...

Re: Track adjustment issues
Thanks, also I have a problem with the track pad bolts, more than half my pads are loose and move a lot, I removed one pad and the holes are elongated, 5/8" just falls in and wiggle a lot, my option is to die grind the hole a little and install 18mm bolts but they are very expensive, anyone tried to...

Re: Track and turning issues
Members have replied on my track post so I will discuss it further over there. As far as complete disassembly of the whole machine it's not possible for me now, I don't have the place for it, I have a carport for it now but high winds and sand and rain, not going to attempt it for now until I'm able...

Re: Track adjustment issues
Thanks for the replies, I will try the recommendations.
Has anyone tried to replace this setup with a manually adjusted rod? Can still keep the spring for shock absorbing.
I'm just trying to plan ahead in case parts are not available anymore.

Re: Track and turning issues
Lavoy,
I did try to pump the grease with 4 front bolt loose and I have no movement at all, do I need to buy a powered grease gun?
I have room at the front for it to slide, should I remove the bolt and see if it tries to retract at all?
Can it be repaired if frozen or junk at that point?
Thanks.

Re: Track and turning issues
Thanks Stan, I'll have to get in there and check everything, this is a very big can of worms, everything that will be touched on this crawler will need to be replaced or welded, I have to try to figure out how slowly repair this thing so it will last me. Any ideas on the stuck track tensioner? I pos...

Re: Track and turning issues
That's good to know, it looks like I'm in over my head with this machine, the track tensioners are stuck, more than half the pads are very loose, undercarriage is worn out and hyd. Cylinders are leaking, I don't know where to start cause I can't afford a complete rebuild right now. Funny thing is I ...

Re: Track adjustment issues
Also another question, it seems like both tracks are backwards? The pins have to be pushed from inside out and I watched videos and people have the pins pushed from outside in.
I have to do clutches and seals so it will be a good time to switch them around if necessary.
Thanks.

Track adjustment issues
I'm having issues with adjusting the track on a 440 icd crawler, took hours to loosen the slider bolts with torch, one broke, wouldn't even come out with a welded nut, had to drill and retap. Manual says special grease gun to push the adjuster, Is that just a battery powered one? Manual grease gun d...

Re: Track and turning issues
I guess I pretty much repeated what you wrote but question is still wouldn't it drive in circles if one side is broken?

Re: Track and turning issues
I'm not following, when I pull the left lever the band activates and locks the left side making the right track spin and go left and vice versa. Right now pulling on the left lever just stops the machine and pulling the right goes right so left track still spinning. Also it drives straight normally,...

Re: Track and turning issues
It drives straight just fine and it turns right, when I pull the left lever it stops but won't turn left.

Track and turning issues
Hello all, I have a 440 icd crawler, recently I tried to turn on a tight corner and it felt like it jumped over a rock with a bang noise and I lost my left steer, I was able to drive it back under the carport to check everything, I removed the covers on top of the clutches on both sides and everythi...
