What a day yesterday was, final is in, but not without a fight. First of all was just me and a bobcat to move things around, if you have never wrestled with a final drive by yourself, words of advise DONT DO IT. Still looking for tools that mysteriously landed on the other side of the property. Anyw...

Lavoy, how do I get ahold of you?, also need special tool

final drive taken apart, fiber plates are soaked, (good call guys), found the problem, which was an oil seal (egg shaped) looks like it was pounded in with a hammer, gonna replace the seal, both inner & outter bearings, new fibers. Where would be the best place to order parts?

thx guys, last night, got the ripper off, and pulled the final drive, came out pretty easy after loosening the brake band. now that I got her apart, any suggestions on the next step(s)?

got the service manual yesterday, so went back to work, I had not removed the two bolts on the backside of the final drive yet, so started there. Noticed I could not gain access to them, as a big chunk of steel was in the way. Figured out that it was a counter balance weight, and geez was it heavy, ...

Last night I took off the rock pan, as I was loosening the bolts, oil started spilling from the pan, is that normal. Once removed I could see a very large gear. Im still waiting for the service manual, but figured I would go a little futher.

thx, guys, no I did see any bolts on the back side, but I will sure look, I also ordered a service manual, should be here in a few days I hope, those things are kinda pricey, 163.00, but wil be well worth it I hope.

have a parts manual, and a owners manual, nothing on pulling it apart! Just pics of what it looks like

So, is there like only one or two guys that are members to this forum? Come 0n guys, If I knew what I was doing here, I wouldnt be asking for help. Geez, you would think there would be a step by step guide already posted on here. This can't be the first time someone took apart a jd350

giant wedge trick worked, both bolts out, should the whole thing just slide out?

think I got her figured out, found a location just just down on the frame where it unbolts, just need a major wedge to lift it up a bit to clear the two bolts. Figured that there had to be a way to do this, as the frame was not torched before.

took all bolts out except top two? now what??, can't get a wrench on em!

ok, got started today, took some time to get the track off, but once I got the master link keeper off, the pin came right out. I then took out 9 bolts out of round looking weight. Going from what Ive learned here, the right track has to come off, followed by the sproket to remove the final drive. Correct?, then its a matter of getting new clutch plates, new seals, and a tool from Lavoy? I know I make it sound alot easier than its gonna be, but do I have the general idea of wh...
