Thought I was reading this for the first time...

Re: Rops on a 440
I think what most people want a ROPS for is protection from falling trees versus rollover protection. Most of us deere crawler operators pucker up long before we get in a potential roll over situation. Absolutely. I'd only put a canopy on because of the stuff that tends to come raining down when yo...

Go to steel roofing and than slam a door hard :D  Dan. That's the best thing for snow, too slippery for the stuff to hang around very long unless the slope is shallow. Standard shop roof is 3/12 pitch and stubborn snow might stick, my house is about 3.5/12 and the snow hangs out for a coup...

Well, the casting of cylinder heads is a pretty intricate business, so it's possible that metal got left behind. The water passages and other tunnels are hollowed out by pieces of sand called cores that are placed in the sand mold. Sometimes these cores themselves are hollow, depending on the proced...

We got enough snow dumped on us Valentine's Day to make a dozer actually useful! When it came time to shove the snow bank over a couple days later to clean the driveway better, it was so heavy I had to climb on top and knock the upper half over (blade angled), then go back and push the rest. I got p...

You say the ignition cuts out when you go over a bump. That sounds like an ignition wire broken inside the insulation. After 50 years of being jostled around, heated and cooled, etc. wires will eventually fatigue and fall apart. It's very likely that when you replaced the points again, you moved the...
