Re: 420c not shifting into gear

Hi, I do not see a reverser in the photos. Unless it is the early gear-type reverser and the lever is on the right-hand side and just out of view. The trans is the 4-speed based on the shift lever. The later differential-style reverser has a different center frame and bell housing and the lever is o...

Re: 3315 winch mounting

Hi, Yes, I think the splines on the winch drive shaft are different on the inside than they are on the PTO drive shaft. They are for sure different on the outside. And, the PTO is longer. But, that might only be the part beyond the trans case. It has been a long time since I have seen both shafts ou...

Re: 3315 winch mounting

Hi,

On the 350, the winch drive does not have an in/out lever. That is for the PTO shaft. I don't think the winch drive shaft installs when the transmission internals are for the PTO.

Re: 420c not shifting into gear

Hi, The clutch and brake pedals are hooked to a rod within a tube under the transmission. Sometimes the rod and tube wind up locked together due to junk and rust. You have to free that up first. The two pedals have to move independent of each other. What I think you have going on is the brakes are e...

Re: 350c winch install

Hi, My 350C had a winch and the fuel tank has a sediment bowl. It still has the winch drive stub shaft and the trans has a reverse in it. Both signs of it having had a winch from the factory. Without a winch, it would not have had either the stub shaft nor the trans reverse according to the manuals....

Re: Dozer purchase JD Dozer comparison/info

Hi, Jason knows this stuff, that is for sure. I don't go newer or larger than the 350 C/D series, so this is out of my ken, so to speak. But, read my tag line. That holds true regardless of era or size of machine. You get to choose: Money up front, or time spent and parts bought. Me, if I were doing...

Re: gooseneck homemade vs mfgd?

Hi, Around here (NC) you can't have mobile home axles under anything that isn't a mobile home. Dexter makes heavier ones that look and fit like MH ones for replacing MH ones. The commercial trailer builders, like Hudson, use the Dexter ones. Agri-Supply sells them and all the parts for them. Not too...

Re: Straight 350 brake.

Hi, Clutch pedal operates a hydraulic dump valve in the reverser which releases the internal clutch packs in both forward and reverse. Or, you can put the reverser lever in neutral. You need to do one of those before using the brake pedal. What you had was out-of-adjustment brakes. It ought to have ...

Re: Weighing out options--Which dozer should I buy? A 450, 450B, or a 350?

Hi, Early straight 350 has reverser lever on dash. Later and the B has it on the left box, as do the C and the D. Straight and B 350 the reverser is optional. C and D all have a reverser as its oil pump runs the wet steering clutches. Only one transmission, but reverser equipped units do not always ...

Re: Snow in the south

Hi, All of half an inch here, yesterday morning, turned to rain and snow gone by Noon. 20 miles North, it gets to 6-7 inches. Mostly melted now. But, the storm is circling back and will dump more. And, pull cold air down on us so all the wet freezes by morning. As in usual, all the stores are out of...
