Re: Virus help if anyone needs it, what do you guys think?

Hi, I am waiting on a test for antibodies. I had this thing back in November. It went thru the electronics R+D world beginning back in August. Folks from these outfits regularly travel to China as that's where just about all the components come from these days. And, half the manufacturing, too. So, ...

Hi, Adding a reverse gear in the trans (so you can back up while using the winch while leaving the reverser in forward) can be done. It need quite a few parts which are not present in the reverse gear-less trans. My dad used to do this from time-to-time when we had our JD dealership. It took quite a...

Hi,

Yup. TSC in the back bucket. Any place, any brand, look for the J20C spec on the label. Stay away from the pile of other buckets that say '303' on them.....

Also, the J20D spec is not good for this, as that is the thinner variant for certain other JD machines. Not what we have.

Hi, On the running out of gas issue, there is a filter screen *inside* the carb. Pull the fitting loose where the fuel line connects to the carb. There is a filter screen in there. It traps crud that gets past the bowl and the screen atop the bowl at the tank. If you still have a screen atop the bow...

Hi, Casting Numbers are just that. They tell the operator of the next step, usually machining, which casting it is so they perform the correct next step. Once the steps are complete, it gets a Part Number. Sometimes a casting gets used in multiple applications and so get different steps and so diffe...

Hi, Yeah, they used to call it the Asian Flu. But, the name change from Corona to COVID-19 is because this one is really not what they originally thought it was. I had a chat with a couple of doctors in Duke Hospital in Raleigh while my wife was getting back surgery a couple weeks ago. They best thi...

Hi, Both my wife and I had it already. Back in November. Hers lasted 8 days. Mine 10. Got better in time to load my muzzle for Thanksgiving. Our 19 year old pregnant granddaughter went with her other grandmother to England early December and then came home with it. Hers lasted 14 days. Baby came out...

Hi, I got a box yesterday! Well, our group of mailboxes up at the end of the farm road got one. The USPS tends to just drop them up there. Once in a while a package-only carrier will drive it down into the river valley. The daily carrier doesn't. But, I didn't go up there until almost dark yesterday...

Re: 12 volt starter conversion for 2 cylinder crawlers

Hi,

This is great! Now those folks who want to go 12v can do it right. Some local shops can do this, but in my experience, not many. Not too many shops around here can manage to do 6v, much less convert. Used to be easy, but one-by-one they have retired.

Re: welded ring to sprocket photo

Hi, A common thing is to cut the teeth off a 420 sprocket and weld on a 350 ring sprocket. This lets you use 350 rails on a 420. I don't know where a pic might be, but it would be a good guess there are some on this site. You are not crazy. Well, about this. Might be crazy because you like crawlers....

Yeah! I have seven spare rolls on hand. My wife and I use one per week, so we're good for a while.

Re: MC switching to 12V

Hi, I have never liked the idea of 12 volts unless one goes all the way and converts the starter. I had one 430 where someone had gone to 12v with an alternator but left the 6v starter as-is. First time I went to start it, the racket was painful to behold. Violent is a mild word to describe it! Soun...
