Re: Straight 350 brake.

Hi, Clutch pedal operates a hydraulic dump valve in the reverser which releases the internal clutch packs in both forward and reverse. Or, you can put the reverser lever in neutral. You need to do one of those before using the brake pedal. What you had was out-of-adjustment brakes. It ought to have ...

Re: Weighing out options--Which dozer should I buy? A 450, 450B, or a 350?

Hi, Early straight 350 has reverser lever on dash. Later and the B has it on the left box, as do the C and the D. Straight and B 350 the reverser is optional. C and D all have a reverser as its oil pump runs the wet steering clutches. Only one transmission, but reverser equipped units do not always ...

Hi,

Serial beginning 119 is very early 350B in 1970.

Re: Snow in the south

Hi, All of half an inch here, yesterday morning, turned to rain and snow gone by Noon. 20 miles North, it gets to 6-7 inches. Mostly melted now. But, the storm is circling back and will dump more. And, pull cold air down on us so all the wet freezes by morning. As in usual, all the stores are out of...

Re: Weighing out options--Which dozer should I buy? A 450, 450B, or a 350?

Hi, Not much. The main thing was a different torsional isolator between the engine and the direction reverser. They had the 164 CID diesel engine. That came out late in the 350C production, so not exactly a C v D difference, but most C units have the 152 in them. I think they are showing up now beca...

Re: 350 ignition problem

Hi, Yes, the resistance is likely inside the starter solenoid itself. Sometimes Delco stuff used a high resistance wire. But, that resistance is there for the Run circuit somewhere. I would check with an ohmmeter, the wires first then the solenoid Run path. There is not likely to be an obviously sta...

Re: 350 ignition problem

Hi, There is a resistor, or resistor wire, from the switch to the coil. That drops the 12v to 6v. This is where the issue will be. When cranking, there is another wire, minus a resistor, to the coil. A bypass because the starter load drops the system voltage. This ensures enough spark while starting...

Re: Model/part # for the extend-a-hoe?

Hi, Also, keep in mind that a standard hoe on a 350 already weighs more than the u/c can handle. Especially the two rear rollers on each side. After their bushings go, it becomes the turn of the sprocket bearings. Personally, the last thing I would want to do is make a hoe heavier on a 350. And, tha...

Re: Model/part # for the extend-a-hoe?

Hi,

9300 for loader machines only, 9550 for dozer and loader. For the 350B thru 350D. Terribly rough on the 350 u/c. Every one I have seen has destroyed rear rollers.

Re: Part/model # list for 350 attachments?

Hi, Over in the FAQ section I have a list of the manuals for most of the machines. Like 420, 440, 350, 450, etc, and by series as well. Included are the manuals for the attachments. Dozers, loaders, hoes, etc. For the Deere stuff. Not for aftermarket. But, it will get you started. It is in machine c...

Re: 420C loader track

Hi,

4-bolt pads might be 1010 or might be 350. The pitch on the 350 is a little longer, so the 420 teeth have to be cut off the sprockets and a 350 ring sprocket welded on. So, there is something to look for, and then you will know.

For the same number of rollers, the swap is straightforward.

Re: Removing skid plate and belly pan changing reverser filter

Hi,

Over time, the spring loaded plate tends to collapse the paper filter element. Then, it tends to bypass. That takes many years. But, now all these machines have many years on them.....

Re: Just wanted a new flip phone....

Hi, Without a cell phone, I would not be writing this. Only two ways to get internet here: Cellular and Satellite. I can't stand the latency of Satellite. And, I can tap into the Net just about anywhere with Cellular. Can't cart Satellite around with me. Plus, Cell is cheaper than Sat. To be fair, S...

Re: Looking at a 350 B

Hi, The isolator is made up of studs on the back of the flywheel, and a matching plate on the input shaft of the reverser, with springs in between. That allows for some flex between the two. When a spring comes loose, it flails around inside the bellhousing and makes the noise. If it falls all the w...
