Re: 450 C Final Drive

Here is the reason I asked. If he has a common sump and he has checked the steering clutch case, it is normal for the oil level to be above the steering clutch check plug level. In that case, he had no problems. Point being, do you have a common sump. If yes, don't check the plugs in the steering ca...

Re: 450 Steering Clutch Stuck

Cart in front of horse, but store machine inside or under a roof with the steering levels stored pulled back to the point just before the brake engages.

Re: Final drive sprocket bearing 450C

You may have to press the bearing on with a bearing separator or just use the press plates/bars. Keep us posted, Bruce

Re: 450B

I have never heard of a dry clutch B converted to a wet clutch C. I would compare the schematics in the parts book very closely. Have you researched dry clutch long-term storage on this site? Best regards, Bruce

Re: Exhaust leak from turbocharger adapter Jd 450C

Time for a new adapter. There were no slotted holes in my manifolds. When the machine is at operating temperature the adapter is supposed to be tight and not spin or be loose.. Bruce

Re: Old School Land Clearing

Several local farmers have done the buy-use-resale technique. Each one I know of worked out well save one. Transmission went out, he was upside down quite a bit with that one. New tall grousers may put a lot of stress and find a weak spot further upstream. I also believe if an old dozer has made it ...

Re: 400G PTO shaft dilemma. ....

I went back and re-read your post. Looks like I should have read it closer the first time as you have already been in the parts box. Before you start the search, raise the back of your crawler about 12” and pop the cover off so you can see what your crawler has and what you will need. By raising the...

Re: 400G PTO shaft dilemma. ....

Good evening, Paul First off you don’t need a PTO, but you will need a winch drive. Google “Deere parts” and scroll down to select “JD Parts Catalog John Deere jdpc” website. Open that website. Put “400G” in the search box. Hit search. Select “2209”. Scroll down to the sectional index table and open...

Re: jd440ic cam pump

If the bearing surfaces and the rest of the castings are okay, the faces can be machined. May moons ago I rebuilt my 420 cam pump. New bearings and new gears at the time. Bolted everything together and you could not turn the pump. I had the faces machined and it worked perfect. ~1988. Best regards B...
