Re: I Am Afraid of the Answer

If it won't turn fully over freely, that is not good. If there is nothing obvious to be seen; it sounds like you need to pull the head to see what is wrong, if you decide to keep going with that engine. Perkins can be a pain as far as getting parts and can be pricey as has been mentioned. Hopefully ...

Re: I Am Afraid of the Answer

Are you calling the intake manifold the air intake cover? Or is there something ahead of the intake manifold? I don't see the air intake in your pictures, I'm guessing it is on the opposite side of the engine from the pictures you posted. Any oil would have to get past any valves that were closed an...

Re: 1st major repair question

Make sure your hose is as large in ID as the tube ID or you will restrict flow. It is likely a #10 (1"wrench for fitting nut), #12 (1-1/4" wrench for fitting nut), or #16 (1-1/2" wrench for fitting nut). Those are the common wrench sizes for those hose/tube fitting sizes. HTH

Re: 1st major repair question

Welcome to the board. Looking at the serial number you posted a bit more studying needs to be done as that is not a 350 serial number. If the description below doesn't match up to your machine you might have a struggle finding the right parts at times. Machine serial number breakdown (T5E3M 0694781)...

Re: HLR pulling in neutral

I would start by doing the easy things first. Do every adjustment for the clutch, clutch valve and HLR by the book and in the order given. Check the linkages closely, something may be worn out or loose as well as out of adjustment. Next after that would be looking for a hang up in the hydraulics of ...

Re: Power assist cylinder rebuild

Jason,

On line T24778 appears to be a drawing number now. SN 142199 and prior use cylinder AT21866 - NLA, SN 142200 and up use AT36885 - NLA. The Kit for both cylinders is AT27076 and that shows as a good number in the $50.00 plus range.

John Deere Parts site changes coming

Apparently JDParts will be making some changes again this year, see the note in the sign in box of the photo below. This message, about access to JDParts being stopped in 2020, started appearing a couple weeks ago when I signed in. The way it reads we will still have access to the catalogs but for t...

Re: 6 wy blade rebuild

U10438 (most suffixes are dropped with the current JD numbering system) shows as No Longer Available. I don't think you meant U10428, but shows as a Tee fitting costing $70 to $85 depending on the dealer, but I did not find it shown for a 1010. A used cylinder or rod with the end on it, adapting som...

Re: 1010 Crawler Foot Brake

The service manual for the 1010 crawlers is John Deere part number SM2034. That is the publication number to look for whether you look at used originals or reprints on eBay or other sources. Jensales is another some are avoiding as well. They are selling reprints of the I&T manuals as the service ma...

Re: 1010 Crawler Foot Brake

In case you don't have a parts catalog or a link to it on line; here is the link: https://partscatalog.deere.com/jdrc/navigation/equipment/77299 . That will at least allow you to see the parts that should be there. A service manual is what you really need to guide you through the set up and adjustme...

Re: Injector return line hose size?

It looks like the JD part number is R68281 for the bulk hose used to make those fuel return hoses. It says it has an ID of 0.156" (5/32") or 4mm. Any hose used needs to be rated for fuel oil service. Pressure will be minimal as it is an open return to the tank.

Re: j440ic new 6 blade fan

Just to rule it out, while you have it drained again, you might want to try suspending the thermostat in a pot of water and heating it. Watch the temperature of the water with a thermometer as you heat it up. It should start to open within a couple degrees of the design temperature and be full open ...

Re: j440ic new 6 blade fan

It wasn't overheating prior to the water pump failure was it? You didn't get it way hot when the pump failed did you? If the pump is the only thing changed, I would install the rebuilt pump. Do you have the right gasket(s) for it? Did you change the thermostat? Is it possible you slipped and got it ...

Re: j440ic new 6 blade fan

Paint on the belt faces of the pulley isn't going to help you. It may embed into the belt, cause dragging during adjusting, and increase slippage when running. If the pulley was backed way off it may take several adjustments to get the belt to work its way up to where it is running right and stays t...

Re: j440ic new 6 blade fan

The fan needs to be flipped if you haven't done that yet, it will not work correctly if turned the wrong way. The leading edge needs to cut into the air and scoop air back along the cupped curve of the blade. If you are setting in the seat looking at the fan, it turns counterclockwise. The belt shou...
