Re: jd440ic charging issues & hyd cyl issues
Definitely need to do something to reduce that, along with fixing the pump, not good for the system to be able to run at over double the design limit. If there is no cartridge available to go into your control valve; you may be able to get a stand alone adjustable relief valve, and plumb it into the...

Re: jd440ic charging issues & hyd cyl issues
Buying a new relief cartridge should eliminate the pressure question, I would think 1000 psi would do for your needs with out adding the adjustable relief they mention in the manual, just my opinion. It would be a long shot, but the right hydraulic shop might have a way to test your present relief v...

Re: jd440ic charging issues & hyd cyl issues
dtoots1, Below is a link to the Vickers mobile equipment valves manual I found using the numbers you found on your valve. This is the document that references the preset relief valves they use. It appears they are not field adjustable from this document. You can see if it matches what you have, from...

Re: jd440ic charging issues & hyd cyl issues
420s, 430s wheeled and crawler as well as the 440 I wheel tractor should have the right cam pump I believe.

Re: jd440ic charging issues & hyd cyl issues
I believe you need a pump from a 420 series or newer. Stan or Lavoy can likely answer for sure, but I believe the inlet size was increased starting with the 420s and the gpm was more, based on other posts from them. Lavoy was recently corresponding with someone who had a similar pump question and co...

Re: jd440ic charging issues & hyd cyl issues
Assuming that is a Vickers valve, from what you have posted for numbers, and we have found on the web, it looks to me like it closely resembles what they call their CM line for mobile equipment now. There is an online manual for Vickers CM valves (you may have found this, if you haven't try searchin...

Re: jd440ic charging issues & hyd cyl issues
Is the 222627 a number cast on one end section the valve? Did John Deere use Vickers valves? That number shows up in Vickers info when searched. If that is what it is, it appears to be a section of a stack type valve you can add sections to. On eBay there is currently a "pre-owned" single spool valv...

Re: jd440ic charging issues & hyd cyl issues
Hi,
Perhaps if you would post a few pictures of your valve and control set up it would help find answers to your questions. It sounds like your valve set up is not a standard 440IC valve arrangement. You have one 3 spool valve and normal was two separate valves.

Re: jd440ic charging issues & hyd cyl issues
Ok, took a look at the parts books on line. It appears the hoses to the cylinders are all 3/8 NPT. The plugs in the right hand cylinder show as 3/8 NPT. The left hand cylinder shows the plugs as 1/2 NPT. On the valves I can see on line (none are 3 spool) they ran all the hoses back to the valve and ...

Re: jd440ic charging issues & hyd cyl issues
A quad ring is like an O-ring but the sides, top, and bottom are hour glass shaped so it looks like lips when installed. The seal for the rod in the gland head is supposed to be an O-ring and separate backup ring/washer in the groove with it. I should clarify the last cups I got were not actual leat...

Re: jd440ic charging issues & hyd cyl issues
dtoots,
Just curious as I have seen some strange things get passed over the parts counters lately and it sounded like they gave you a quad ring instead of an O-ring when they matched up parts. Were the cups you had for the cylinder piston leather or a poly-type?
Jim

Re: jd440ic charging issues & hyd cyl issues
Hi, I agree your cylinder bores could be worn more in some areas than others and have some bypassing in spots. You said you didn’t think you raised the blade all the way up when you cycled it. First cycle the cylinders fully up and down a number of times to clear any air from them. Shut your machine...

Re: jd440ic charging issues & hyd cyl issues
Good morning, Glad to hear things advanced on your repairs. A gauge installed in one of the plugged ports at the end of a lift cylinder will tell you the pressure in the circuit when full pressure is applied to and the cylinder is at the end of its stroke, at full throttle. It should be the same at ...

Re: JD 350b track off problems
Be careful not to loose the check ball located under the screw beside the grease fitting, if that is what you are calling the plug you removed. Don't know how big a com-a-long you have but it may not have pull enough for this job. Do you have a blade on your machine? If it is a hydraulic 6-way, you ...
