Re: Another Question 350 Winch

Welcome to the Board.

Thanks for passing the info on, definitely something to be considered if a winch is giving a problem.

Re: How much should I pay for this late 70's JD 750 Dozer

I agree with 77 Ford on the tracks and undercarriage. If he has not done undercarriage work in the 7 years he has had it, it certainly has not gotten better, so even if 70% then it is less than 70% of new, or more than 70% worn now. I am guessing the 70% listed for the auction was a guess/wishful th...

Re: How much should I pay for this late 70's JD 750 Dozer

Welcome to the Board. I agree with Al on his points. Have you operated it yourself? (Are you familiar with operating heavy equipment, so you have a feeling for its performance?) The serial number can put you on, or close to the year, it was built. There is a serial number list for 750s on the FAQ Bo...

Re: 450C "Milky" engine oil

As I posted before for you. The liners have to be pulled to change the O-rings and packings (JD calls them washers). To pull the liners you have to pull the pistons out of them. The block and liners need to be inspected and cleaned before reassembly. I don't see how that could be done by just raisin...

Re: re..jd440 ic....main clutch

If you have service manual SM 2023 the rod shows, but is not called out as such, on the first page of the reverser section. It runs close under the shifter housing of the reverser. I can't say on a 440IC, but on my 430 I could see and adjust it from the top. I do have a couple short wrenches I used ...

Re: 450C "Milky" engine oil

I would recommend buying only the proper O-ring seals for the engine (and installation lube), not trying to get them from a place with run of the mill stock O-rings on a shelf. You can drop the pan, pressurize the radiator and lay under it and watch for leaks. You may need to let it set a while befo...

Re: 1973 450B

Yes, they often get water in them from condensation (a common cause as dtoots1 posted) along with infiltration around gaskets and covers. Sometimes when oil is added it is contaminated. Buckets and drums setting outdoors will collect water, even if they are sealed, due to expansion and contraction. ...

Re: 420c Trans/reverser seal

Have you sent Lavoy a direct email (postmaster@jdcrawlers.com) or called him (701-361-1006) during central time zone business hours? I know he has posted before he has parts for them. He has also posted, in the past, he doesn't always catch things people mention in posts or get PMs, so he asked for ...

Re: 1965 straight JD crawler help

Does the hydraulic lift on the back of yours look similar to this one? You might have just the beam without the shanks(teeth). You should post a couple photos showing your complete machine

Re: 1965 straight JD crawler help

Yes, people put kits in them themselves. However I don't believe they have the wear limits and specs to set them up by, nor proper equipment to calibrate them with. Depending on how far you have to go, your pump may need a Bristol bit or two, not torx bits. Some succeed, some end up breaking somethi...

You have it identified correctly. Machine serial number tag breakdown using the 350 Introduction from the JD parts Catalog: SN = serial number T = Tractor 4 = JD350 F = Crawler Dozer 3 = Diesel D = (Transmission) Sliding Gear with Reverser Serial number: 010120 (This number falls in the 1965 build r...

Re: 1965 straight JD crawler help

Welcome to the board. If you would post the model and serial number of your crawler it will be easier to help you, saying straight 1965 JD crawler, it could be a couple different ones. You should contact Lavoy (postmaster@jdcrawlers.com). He owns this site and his business of selling parts and repai...
