Re: Steering clutch tie rod adjustment

You photo doesn't appear for me. So I am guessing at what you have circled. Do you have a 40 series service manual? (If you don't have a manual you should get in contact with Lavoy about getting one.) I don't have a 40 manual but will offer the page from my 420/430 manual as many of the parts are th...

Re: 450c died when shifting/clutch. Won’t start

A ground is required; however it may not need a wire run to it. Many had just a small metal ground strap between one of the solenoid terminals and a pump head screw. I've got two 2030s here with the ground strap between the terminal your hot wire hooks to and the left front pump head screw. The hot ...

Re: John Deere 450b any help would greatly be appreciated

The following is the breakdown of your serial number using the serial number code information from the Introduction section of the John Deere 450 parts catalog. You posted: SNT 5F3M 016243T SN = serial number T = Tractor 5 = JD450 F = Crawler Dozer 3 = Diesel (202 cu.in.) M = Transmission (Hi-Lo-Rev...

Re: John Deere 450b any help would greatly be appreciated

Please post the all the letters and numbers on your serial number tag. There is a post (third one down) on the FAQ board giving the different 450 series serial numbers for the year built up through the 450G. From the info in that post the B ended in 1976. 79 or 80 should make it a C model. When you ...

Re: steering clutches look correct?

I believe the fictions are 0.187" thick and the steels are 0.093" thick for a straight 450, from info I find on the JDparts site.

Re: steering clutches look correct?

Differences in wear in the hub and disc thicknesses would make it hard to preset the fingers. Your manual tells you about doing it. If JD does it with their discs and pressure plate why wouldn't it apply to all. Did you measure the thickness of the discs? Apparently some vendors are selling discs fo...

Could you see any foreign material stuck in/plugging the check valve?

Re: steering clutches look correct?

Some info first.

What model is the machine? Serial number?

Do you have the service manual for it?

Where did you get the clutches? Part numbers and how many?

Do you have the gauge to set the pressure plate fingers?

Re: Did all 350s have a Rops

I think construction machines started having ROPS required some time in 1970. I remember some ROPS being installed in the shop of the contractor I was working for in 1971. It was done on specific machines with dealer supplied parts, direction and oversight. They may have been models, that fell under...

Re: 3325 winch issue

That small screen is made as part of the oil pick up line for the pump. It shows in the 450E repair manual in the winch remove and disassemble section as being removed as a step prior to pump removal, it should be in that same winch section of your 450C Technical Manual. It is item 18, part number A...

Re: 450E clutch oil manifold/shifting valve

Glad to hear you have manuals. If you look up parts in your hard copy, you can then go to the on line one to see if the part numbers have been superseded. Just to clarify, my answer wasn't based on the quality of any photos in a manual not being clear. It is a case of it would take more studying to ...

Re: 450E clutch oil manifold/shifting valve

A question and some info first. Do you have the technical manuals for your 450E? (For reference I am including the John Deere numbers) There are two of them, TM1330OP AND TM1330RE, not one as some have. Also do you have the Operator's Manual. OMT81347 is one edition, there might be other editions of...

Re: JD450C want to rebuild the T handle linkages

First send Lavoy an email (postmaster@jdcrawlers.com) to see what he might have available for the parts you need or ideas he might have. His business provides this site for us to use. I would recommend getting the sending unit that matches any new electric gauge you get and changing it with the gaug...

The link just opened ok for me, so don't know what the issue is/was. Here is a cut of the drawing showing the check valve location for you.

Re: JD 450 crawler on't stay running

Which way did you blow through the return line? There is (supposed to be) a check valve at the return outlet of the pump. Sometimes the mouse turds or other debris might be stuck in it. It should be a fitting (item 9 in the attached parts book page link) located between the return line fitting and t...
