Almost sounds like the throw out bearing assembly for the clutch is not sliding freely on the shaft. This would be noticable in the clutch pedal as having play in it until the machine starts moving as it should. But then, I guess it could be the clutch IS slipping too. What about the reverser? Does ...

440IC Single Spool Hydraulic Valve
I'm a little puzzled about my hydraulic valve. When I got the dozer, the valve had five (5) lines hooked to it. 1. Is the Inlet from the pump (left side when facing valve flat on table) 2. Connects to one end of both cylinders.(on top while flat on table etc....) 3. Connects to other end of both cyl...

NAPA part numbers for engine oil seals
Ok, the 440IC is back on her feet (tracks) and is moving around but she seems to have sprung an oil leak. Yes, I took the lazy way out and didn't replace the front and rear seals on the engine. (not sure which is leaking if not both...)(gonna replace them both anyway.) Also, my clutch is slipping, s...

HD you took the words right out of my mouth! My 440IC's advance unit was rusted in place. Had to pull the Dist. and disassemble the thing to get it back working. You can find this mechanism under the plate that holds the points. To get her completely apart, there is a taper pin down at the end that ...

Let's assume the rails are sitting as they would on the machine. If you hold the straight edge along the side of the rail, yes there is a "step in" of just under 1/4" before you get to the end. Now, if you roll the straight edge up under that lip (keeping it horizontal), that is where I measured to ...

I picked up 4 Diamond Tool and Horseshoe wrenches at an estate sale. The jaws on these things are 90degrees to the handle and they are adjustable. Plus, the handle is smooth so you can put a little cheater on it. Here is one on Ebay that is similar. http://cgi.ebay.com/Diamond-Tool-Horseshoe-15-Monk...

Gil, My rails and front brackets were worn causing quit a bit of slop in the front. I found that using a straight edge on the rails (over the worn area) will give a pretty good idea of the amount of metal missing. I ended up cutting a piece of "stretched cresent shaped" steel and welding it in place...

Hey guys, to get all of the rock guards and rollers off of the rail on my 440IC, I'd say about 50% of the bolts broke off in the rails. I started off with a small drill press on the floor with the rail flipped over and started trying to drill them out, (no magnetic base drill :( ) but this quickly g...

Actually, I've been on Ebay since July of '99 (as Lizrad) both selling and buying. I've picked up some pretty good deals on there, but mostly I've been selling odd hitch items for back of tractors that I fab myself. Been doing it for the past 5 years and I really enjoy it. I've got a website, and I ...

Junk 1010 sprockets on eBay
I have not had any dealing with them yet, but I was about to bid on the rollers and axles he has listed. Beleive it or not they look to be in 100% better shape than the ones I have.... If anyone knows of a place I can get some rollers not too far from Memphis, TN (250miles) I sure would be obliged. ...

Finals from a 1010 destined for a 440?
I have one cracked final housing (T10004T) on my dozer (440IC), and have a chance to get two (T18867T) housings from a 1010. Does anyone know if the housings are interchangable? I would love to get the newer ones as they have the "webbing" in the casting. Just not sure if it is worth a 24 hour drive...
