I got a set of chains, double diamond ice diggers for my Kubota, and they work well on ice and snow and crawling over woody debris while cutting wood, but the problem I have is with snow and mud. There is a small amount of time in December and January where there is little snow and yet the ground is...

What if you bought a overrunning PTO coupler from a farm tractor dealership...would this stop the overrunning problem? I know our old Ford 900 had the same live PTO problem and this solved the problem for $30 bucks. Well worth it for that tractor at least.

I appreciate all the trouble you have gone through making links for a newbie such as I. I have read all the ones you have given on the discussions I have posted and found the back-reading enjoyable...and because it is about older equipment...the topics were just as pertinent today as it was when ori...

I looked into rubber tracks for my little Kubota Tractor and was shocked at the prices given. I figured 10,000-15,000 dollars, but when I got a quote of $39,000 I was blown away. Putting rubber tracks on all four wheels made sense because it allowed for a pto. 3 point hitch and a loader...all while ...

Nice Digger by the way. I don't have one, nor do I have a specific use for one, but I suppose if I had one (of any size) I would use it for far more then I imagined I ever would. My dream right now is to get a JD 850 or bigger in the next few years so I can clear more land. Until then the JD 350 D w...

Hi, One uses a 350 to unstick a 420. And a 450 to unstick the 350. What one uses to unstick the end of the progression, I don't know! :P Growing up, we actually had customers who carted one larger machine to a work site specifically to unstick the smaller ones actually doing the work.... Stan A Tre...

Little Rock Hounds

We try to encourage our kids to get outside as well as to be a family, and so Katie and I try to do things for the kids. Having a farm helps, and while I will be the first to say that farming is not endless picnics in the back forty, well we do try and arrange that now and then. The kids have a Land...

That is too bad, but thanks for the quick replies. (It might be interesting to note that even locomotives have a pto shaft (6 spline) that could be coupled up to the traction motor axle. When I worked on the railroad we never used a locomotive to thresh wheat as 4,000 hp might be a wee bit of over k...

1988 JD 350 D

Does anyone know if this bulldozer (1988 John Deere 350 D) has a PTO? If it does, can the PTO be engaged while operating the crawler? I have a farm tractor style type of winch I would like to use on it, which relates to the first question. The second question was posed because I have some rough area...

I have always dry-skidded the buildings on bare soil and as you can see from the pictures, that is why we had to put some dirt/rocks in the bucket of the tractor to kind of hold the front end down in order to get a little extra traction. But then again, you don't need bulldozers or tractors at all t...

Nice!

I had to turn the sound up just to here those old John Deere's puff away (if that is the word to describe it). That sounded like a JD hit or miss 2 cylinder or am I mistaken?

Thanks a lot, I enjoyed that a lot, especially about how they moved those 3 houses. I have actually moved a few myself, though I used my tractor instead of a bulldozer and used a skids instead of sleds. It worked quite well and I have moved 3 buildings to date: 1. a 12x30 garage to use for a sheep s...

Thanks for the welcome! Yeah having a farm means I have lots of uses for the ye ole John Deere 350 D that is for sure. I really wanted one with a bucket because it would serve my needs better I think in a farm situation then just a straight blade, but the 100% rebuilt tracks was the draw to this mac...

Just a quick introduction here as I thought you other users deserved that. Basically I joined because I love bulldozers, really any make or model though John Deere are my favorite. I just grew up with them, having a JD 1010 gasoline crawler as a kid. It was not much, but man did it ever get the wood...
