It will not be here for at least another two weeks. Based on it being a 91 loader, I would guess that it will be small tranny. I have asked for the serial number, but have not gotten an answer, so will just have to wait until it gets here I guess.

If you are that far in to the crawler, I would take it out and look at it. Often times the reverser gets shifted without using the foot clutch and the tabs on the ends of the reverser discs get beat to death. If they get bad enough, they will eventually peel off and the reverser will quit working. I...

I can't see the lift mechanism well enough, it might be a 61, is definitely not a 62. A 61 does have one lift cylinder on the RH side, but the moldboard does not look quite right to be a 61. If you can, post a pic of the back side of the moldboard and the push arms.

We got a little over 5" of fairly wet snow over the weekend. Figures, the ground was almost open everywhere here, and then it snows. They are talking another one coming tomorrow, so who knows. They really caught it SE of us, anywhere from 9" to I heard 24" in SE Minnesota. To make matters worse, I a...

Steering clutch pressure plate setting with gauge

I just posted a pic in the FAQ section that is from a factory service bulletin on how to set steering and engine clutch pressure plates. You should be able to print the image and then you will have it for reference.

Pressure plate setting bulletin, engine and steering clutch

Just found this while looking through some 1956-1959 John Deere factory service bulletins. It is the proper procedure for adjusting the engine and steering clutch pressure plates for MC through 440 crawlers, and steering clutch on 1010. Procedure is different for 350, that procedure is posted below....

If you truly broke the input shaft, there is only one way to fix it. Start at the grille, and disassemble til you see the front of the transmission. Then start at each final drive and disassemble till you see the sides of the transmission. At this point, you can begin to repair the transmission itse...

ALL 1010 and 2010 diesels are going to smoke at cold start up period. If you glow plug them properly and everything is new and tight, they may not too much, but still smoke and slobber for a few seconds. Oil pressure would concern me, that is not right. As to the anti-freeze, as was stated, could be...

I meant front idlers, sorry. Used upper idlers are usually shot, new upper idlers are sporadic at best. I finally got one in the other day, almost two months on back order. IF you can find a 350 upper idler support, you should be able to convert to that style upper idler, then availability is good. ...

Brad, No you had not sent me that one yet. I had kind of forgot that I had sent them to you. When you really get bored some time, it might be fun to do the dozer and loader parts manuals as well, and whatever attachment catalogs I have. Whatever your price is, I know it is reasonable. I don't know h...

Bill, I have not as of yet, but would do so. So far the ones I have done have been minimal enough wear that they could be built up and ground smooth again. I think 4140 would be an excellent choice. I would not want it hardened though, you do not want the risk of it shattering, it will need some fle...
