I found one. Not cheap. Not much to them. But you need, what you need.
Thanks

Looking for a timing advance window. jd270
I have a 450() with a still good CBC431-3AL injector pump. I am going to check the static timing and advance. I need to get the plastic timing advance window to proceed. Does anyone know of a source or have one to sell. The part number is JD270. I will pm Lavoy but I seriously doubt he will carry a ...

Re: 450() Track Adjuster
Guess the track will be split. I just welded those master pins in. Probably should do both sides. Life is tough.

450() Track Adjuster
I just got done with brakes and steering clutches on a 450 dozer. I have about 20hrs of use and one of the tracks was a little loose. Blew out the seal on the adjuster when trying to tighten it. It did not take much pressure and it was probably leaking anyway. Is there a clever of replacing the seal...

Re: Oiler tube for the ring gear on a 450()
Thanks, the comment did help. I have been off the board for a while. I had to remove the quills to replace the oil seals. The gear lash was way out of wack. It all went together. What you said about the oil tube makes sense. I am pretty sure I did every thing right. Just being loose the way it was s...

Re: Straight 450 Brake Spring Question
One spring came off on my 450. I was able to re-attache without lifting off the tank through the side access panel. It was possible but very difficult. I am doing a clutch/brake rebuild and found the one that popped off (not broken) in the sump. One other thing, the 450 manual says: "When assembling...

Oiler tube for the ring gear on a 450()
Thanks again, especially Rob, for the previous help. I have another question. When replacing the seals in the differential I found the the bearings were slightly pitted and the ring/pinion lash was incorrectly set. About .028" instead of .012" (max). I decided to remove the ring gear and replace the...

Re: Finger height adjustment on steering clutch for JD450 plain
I hear you about the precision. I just have an aircraft mindset. Its a little frustrating. Aircraft rework/repair manuals are very precise, very clear, and very complete. Absolutely nothing left to interpretation.

Re: Finger height adjustment on steering clutch for JD450 plain
I went into text only 450b manual on this website. It says "Place "STR" side of JD264 gauge over pressure plate with legs of gauge resting on brake drum (Fig. 7). The three clutch release levers should be adjusted to just touch the center of the gauge. Released lever height is 2.062 ± 0.031 in." Exa...

Re: Finger height adjustment on steering clutch for JD450 plain
I went back and took the measurements off the tool again. The 2.016" really is 2.016", I did not transpose digits. The 450() manual (last revised in 1974) says to use the JD 264 gauge. I have been through the manual from front to back and sideways. I could not find 2.062" number. I could not find it...

Finger height adjustment on steering clutch for JD450 plain
I am setting the fingers on JD450 (no suffix) steering clutches. Bought an after market tool, but it does not look much like the tool in the JD shop manual. It is not marked "STR" like the JD264 in the shop manual. There are three possible surfaces to use on this particular tool. I suspect it is the...

Re: 450(), Replacing the seals on the differential
One other question: Do you have to drain the case? I hope that the seal and bearing are not submerged. It sounds like you may have had the case empty already.
