Re: 450(), Replacing the seals on the differential

Great answer. It was afraid it would be a little more involved than just pulling the quill off and replacing the seal and o ring. I am glad you pointed out the quill removal helper holes to me. I probably would have missed that. I am gonna take another look at it to see if there is ANY evidence of l...

Re: Aftermarket starter/fuel pump problem on Deere engine

Has anyone found a rebuild kit for the original AC pump? Mine is leaking a bit and a new set of gaskets would be in order. I have been unable to find a kit. Those rebuild kits can't be unique. I like having a glass bowl even though it is probably of no real practical use.

450(), Replacing the seals on the differential

I have the steering case opened up to replace the brake and clutch on a 450 straight. I was going to replace the final drive pinion seal (easy and needed). I am also thinking of replacing the seal on the transmission behind tube/quill/bearing support. I think it is ok, but since it is all opened... ...

Re: Grease recommendations?

Anti-seize it will be. I looked for the S-825 and did not find anything current. There is a can on ebay and they want almost $20.

Grease recommendations?

I am doing a steering clutch and brake rebuild on a 450. Part of the problem was a lot of the mechanisms had dried grease in them and didn't operate very well. Particularly the vertical throw out bearing shaft. There are no grease fittings on anything. Is there some high tech super synthetic grease ...

Probably confused him. I will just let him see it. I am working remote and want to keep travel to a minimum.

Thanks again

Re: Machine Shop in Central Washington State

My "go to" auto machine shop was not interested. I will try somewhere else.
Thanks Lavoy. I am getting ready order the disks and bands. I will PM you later.

Machine Shop in Central Washington State

Can someone recommend a competent shop in central Washington State to turn the brake drums on for a 450(). Ellensburg, Yakima or Wenatchee would be closest. Also what would be a reasonable price?

Re: Removing the Final Drive Bearing Shaft

I was afraid it would require two different sizes. I had better find some 7/16" before I start the job. Just in case. If you can remember, is the 7/16" for the Final Drive shaft or the Steering Drive Shaft? Question is what length of all thread do I need.

Thanks

Re: Removing the Final Drive Bearing Shaft

Hey, I found crawler123's chronicle on replacing clutches on his 450. That stuff is gold. He mentioned on page 5 that they were 3/8x16 for the final drive bearing shaft. I suspect they are the same for both. If anyone knows different let me know. Thanking Crawler123 and the teachers that taught him ...

Removing the Final Drive Bearing Shaft

I am doing the steering clutches on a 450(). I am going to use a slide hammer to pull out the Final Drive Bearing Shaft and the Steering Clutch Drive Shaft. Does anyone know what the tapped threads on the shaft ends are? I am guessing either 1/4in or 3/8in coarse. I hope they are the same for both s...

Re: 450 Straight Throw Out Bearing

When I did mine it had quite a metal burr built up on the shaft at the end of forward travel. It might be hanging up on the burr like mine did. It was not stuck but it did catch on release. I would give it a light rap with a hammer if the penetrating oils don't fix the problem. Check to make sure th...

Re: Problems separating a track on a 450 ()

Does anyone know what the difference is between a master track pin and the typical track pins? I have one of each and they look identical except for the dimple on the end. The center section of the pin may have a slightly larger diameter. This track has all headless pins with the counter bored links.
