ROb,
My brake bands already have a tougher material than OEM, they have metallic particles in them so they grab better than OEM as well.
Keep in mind that the 420 that was breaking them was a loader, fresh rebuild on the engine, and was being worked to death when they let go.

For what you want to do, I would not even consider an MC, and would probably look more for a at least a 420. The increased power would be benificial, and you would not increase weight that much.

This is highly unscientific, but see if it makes sense. It appears to me that they have enough more surface friction than the regular fiber discs that if they are adjusted the same way, the crawler labors badly trying to turn. In my experience, it is necessary to run less brake so that the pressure ...

Some are for both, I think the main harnesses that I have are for gas.

The bushing is supposed to be a fairly tight press fit, that is why no spacer. Not sure if you could build the indside of the hub up and rebore it.

It would be a 61-65. There may be some things we can use to narrow it down, but it will be hard to determine exact year without a tag.

I doubt that I can get you them any cheaper than that. The link for a 420 is over $150 now.

Depending on serial number, I have new and used sprockets on hand.
To release the tensioner, take out the 1/2" bolt on the tensioner, and then back out the set screw that is under the bolt, and pull the idler back with a come-along or something like that.

I have not heard of an adapter, I think the housing from a later 1010 will bolt on, then you can use a spin on.

Do you mean the metallic replacement discs? I have put a couple of sets in, one in a 1010, and 2-420s. I think they are at least double the price of fiber discs now and maybe more. Main benefit I can see is they will not "grow" if they absorb moisture, and may not be as prone to sticking in high hum...
