Re: 6 volt change to 12 volt
When I changed my 420 over to 12volt the coil had to be a 3ohm. But I think it was because I installed a electronic points kit in the distributor verses mechanical points. But I somewhat remember the resistor had to equal 3 ohms, I may be wrong though, It’s been a while. The electronic points have ...

Re: Gearmatic 8a Winch/Controller Rebuild
Houdy folks! Ahh removal of the dreaded drum, That part of the rebuild took me a couple days to figure out! I ended up using a rosebud torch, jack bolts, pry bars, PB plaster and a couple curse words and it finally came out. I must say that was the worse part of rebuilding a 8a. Heat helped out the ...

Re: Gearmatic 8a Winch/Controller Rebuild
The metal tubing that goes to the center of the right side cover it for the clutch. The metal tubing that goes to the upper part of the winch is the brake cylinder. Now I am going off of memory when I rebuilt mine a couple years ago but the winch can run with the right side cover off, not under any ...

Re: Gearmatic 8a Winch/Controller Rebuild
If it was me I would at least remove the right side cover of the winch to see what the condition is of the clutch and brake bands look like along with the general condition of the internal parts.

Re: Hydraulic line 420
I purchased seamless steel tubing of the same size and wall thickness and bend it to fit. It’s out there, I just do not remember where I had purchased it. Maybe McMaster.com

Re: 6 way conversion questions
I considered using a hitch ball for my 6 way conversion. But I was afraid of too much blade movement while pushing dirt. Is there anyway for you to post a photo of your blade?

Do you have a ballast resistor on the coil? They are usually 3 ohms if my memory is accurate

Re: hydraulics
This is not the exact one that I used but very similar https://www.surpluscenter.com/Featured-Items/12-24-Volt-DC-13-2-GPM-SAE-8-Solenoid-Operated-Double-Selector-Valve-9-8602.axd There is a tap that shows how it is plumbed into the hydraulics. Being that you have 6volts is a problem. I’m sure there...

Re: hydraulics
I installed a thumb on my Terramite T7 loader bucket. I installed hydraulic quick disconnect couplings to reduce the flow down to 3-4 gallons per minute which works out perfect. I also installed a electrical diverted valve plumbed into the loader curl cylinder, that way I did not have to purchase a ...
