no help now, but for later:
Get an extra belt or two... slip the spare(s) over the pump driveshaft, when you put your new one on, and zip tie it off to the side out of the way... makes it easy to fix a broken or damaged belt out in the field if you need it without taking anything apart.

Hi Greg, I've got a 1 1/4 yd GP bucket in Very Good condition out behind my shop... it came off a 450C when I replaced it with a 4in1 bucket... the pin hole bushings and edge are like new, and I have a set of teeth and shanks (not installed) that go with it. I'm in North Central Minnesota. Send me a...

Re: 1010 dozer wineing sound in reverse????????????????????
dozer wines, has gear wine only in reverse is this normal?????????????????? I'm not sure about 1010's, but the reverser whine/screech/noise on the reverser on my early 350 was enough to about drive me crazy... I even traded it for a brand new 350C hoping it would be quieter, but it was almost...

The dipstick that fits that tube in your picture would have a rubber expanding plug on it that fits the belled end portion of the tube... it would have a tightening handle above the rubber plug. I had one like that on a 4 wheel drive loader, but I have no idea if that was the type used originally on...

re: post http://www.jdcrawlers.com/messageboard/viewtopic.php?t=4130 I'm pretty sure that is a model 9550 backhoe... it has the swing cylinders instead of the swing motor that the model 9300 had. They are a good hoe; I had one for years with no trouble other than normal wear and tear. They are sligh...

As far as the catalog numbers you gave, the numbers you provided are for that 450 but there's also others that are described as the same exact model. Am I looking at it wrong at that site? It's very confussing how they're listed. The Owner's Manual in perticular. Why wouldn't it be OMT26184 instead...

According to this link (thanks to Stan): http://www.jdcrawlers.com/messageboard/viewtopic.php?t=2415 ...Your 35377 serial number is a 1966 straight 450... If that is indeed the case, then you would need the JD service manual number SM2064 from their site: http://www.johndeeretechinfo.com/index.cfm?e...

I have removed the radiator before by tilting the grill housing forward rather than removing it... I was in the field on a job and had no way to hoist the thing off... It is, however, much easier to work on if you do remove the grill housing as it gives you a lot more room. To tilt the grill housing...

Re: 550 fuel venting?
I cannot see any way for the system to vent, what am I missing?? Look under the fill cap in the tank right up at the top... there should be a tube running all the way through the tank and coming out the bottom of the tank... it may be hiding under the plastic filler screen flange (if it's still the...

Hi Craig, I won't loan or rent you one, but you can buy one directly from John Deere here: https://www.johndeeretechinfo.com/index.cfm?event=productDetails&product_id=45646& I have a printed TM-1102 for the 450C and it's an inch and a half thick... the one on CD is a little cheaper, but either way i...

I've attached a copy of your picture with the correct location of the final drive fill/level plug indicated; note that it is on the REAR of the housing - I hope it comes through ok... Okay, now we're getting somewhere, the info about the 450 trannies and bushings is the kind of info I need to know. Guess what I really need to know is what was the best series of the 450 and why. Terry I made a living - dirt work - in the 70's and 80's with JD crawler loaders; I had 3 of them sprea...
