There's no taper, but what usually happens is that the pin gets a pretty deep, sharp edged, "shoulder"worn into it, and it locks up when you try to push it out. Try moving the bucket slightly so there's no pressure on the pin, back and forth and up and down, to find the true "center" so the the shou...

It seems that some (early model?) 450C's had the steering clutch housings and transmission separated by seals, and the oil level in the steering clutch housing had to be checked at the level plugs. Those types, according to my tech manual, could be easily converted to the common sump that was used o...

Based on my experiences, I'd just plan on torching off ALL the pad bolts. I think your compressor is too small to run a serious impact wrench, too. If the pads are quite worn, just start shopping for complete tracks (chain and pads), as mixing new and worn track parts usually is just asking for trou...

Cavitation Erosion
I've notice that there is a mention of Cavitation Erosion buried in a current thread on 450C steering clutches; I think that it's a topic deserving of its own thread.... Quite often, on this site, and others, the subject of antifreeze in the oil comes up... One of the reasons can be due to Cavitatio...

I bought a used early 350 loader that came with grouser tracks on it... I later replaced them with triple semi-grousers and I really couldn't tell much difference. The old grousers were pretty worn down though, and the tracks were shot, so that probably had a lot to do with it. I would think new ful...

It's possible that very little damage was done running on the starting fluid; I'm not saying that running on "ether" is a good thing, but I'm convinced that most of the starting fluid that is sold nowadays is pretty tame stuff compared to what it used to be. I think most of it is half kerosene or so...

Re: what to do with this? (350 track frames)
hi, my 350 dozer has bad track frame's. What should I do? weld it up a lot or make new ones? And is any steel suitable or do I need a special kind? If I need to make new ones? Can i use nuts to bolt the rollers back on, I have no experience in tapping! Hi Hugo, Yeah, they are pretty well shot... I ...

On 350C's the Transmission, Steering Clutches Housings, and Final Drives are all filled and checked with the dipstick located on the floor just behind your left heel. The oil level should be between the marks with the threads on the dipstick resting on top of the tube. The oil used is HyGard Transmi...

Externally I don't think there is any difference... the major difference was the 450C models had "wet" steering clutches and brakes... Yes, some of the hydraulic fittings are tough to get at... sometimes you have to remove whatever is in the way or make your own special bent wrenches... using strong...

As a general rule a 450C dozer will outweigh a 350C dozer, with equivalent equipment, by about 3,000 to 4,000 lbs... (350C w/6310 blade= 10,400# vs. 450C w/6410 blade = 14,170#). I have owned and run both 350C and 450C loaders and the 450 series is by far the better machine - the 350's, while being ...

Hey AJ- On first glance it seems a lot like a late 350 crawler loader. JD changed their numbering system so that loaders could be distinguished from dozers of the same size/series - Dozers remained as 350, 450, 550, etc. and the loaders became 355, 455, 555, etc. The 355D was the last of the 350, 3...

Tigerhaze, I had, JD built, 4 in 1 buckets on both a 350C and a 450C... After having one you will never go back to a regular GP bucket - they're great. Although they're advertised as a "4 in 1", I used mine as a "2 in 1" most of the time - 1. a regular loader bucket, and 2. a clam/clamp. I never fou...

rock guards
I don't know if this would work, but I don't know why you couldn't just cut the extra length of of 350 Dozer rock guards. At least you could find a lot more parts machines that way than just limiting your search to Loaders.
