Seems a shame to cut up this huskie ripper. I think you should sell it and get a more sensible size box blade with rippers. gregjo1948

I had a 440ICD a couple years back and I don't remember a shut down cable on it. I think I just closed the throttle. I do have a cable on my 1010 but, it doesn't have the Detroit diesel. gregjo1948

I don't think your 420 is enough machine to fully engage this machine and pull it. Maybe if you gauge the depth it sinks, it would pull it thru easy soil. It looks like something that should be attached to a 450. I think it's going to harm you're 420. gregjo1948

440D

Did JD ever make a 440D model? Found 440D diesel advertised on Craigslist in my area. Only one picture and not close up. Probably 2-53 Detroit. Looks like 440D on right side of nose. gregjo1948

That's a clean 420. Looks like a lot of track adjustment left, which is always a good sign. I think this maqn really likes John Deeres. gregjo1948

It would be pushed out by the gease and you probably tossed it out when you cleaned up the grease. I think it's just a steel ball about 5/16"-3/8". gregjo1948

Why did you have the starter rebuilt? Maybe the starter wasn't in need of repair and there is some serious drag while trying to crank the engine. gregjo1948
