Re: 1010 crawler tracks - cleats or grouser options

As Lavoy stated, grousers will be harmful to the undercarriage. All the weight out front with the weight of the bucket and the payload in the bucket, tries to stand the machine on its toes. Then when turning, while standing on its toes, grousers are having to twist the soil under them. Very tough on...

Re: JD 1010 buying advise

Maybe the owner means he can "bump start" it by pushing or pulling. That would lead me to think the starter may be bad. If it is a 1010 diesel, it will have a JD 4 cylinder- 4 stroke and if a Detroit it will be a 2 cylinder-2 stroke that wasn't used, unless it has had a transplant. I'd prefer the De...

Re: 350B dozer no power

I got everything I needed from Lavoy. I thought the prices where good and has good products. Dont order cheap from ebay, they wont last a week. You will have to get the tool to set the finger heigth from him too if you dont have one. Get in touch with Lavoy and let him price what you need. I planne...

Re: 350B dozer no power

I would do the pressure plates and brake bands also. I just did a brake band on one side of mine and the other side I was just going to do the band also but did the discs, plates, and pressure plate also. I can tell a big difference in the steering from the new side and old side. That was my rookie...

Re: 350B dozer no power

It'll be a bit before I can get it in the shop but I'll probably be buying , at least, the fiber discs for the right side. If I get real ambitious, I'll do the left side too.

Re: Alternator or Generator

I'd go with the 6 volt using a positive ground. I think that' what it would have been originally. You'll need a voltage regulator also.

Re: 350B dozer no power

Thanks guys for your input. Looks like I'll have to bite the bullet and tear this thing down. I'll have to clear some shop space and get it done. I may need some parts from Lavoy if they're available. I'll let you all know what I find. gregjo1948

Re: 350B dozer no power

Hi, Sounds like the steering clutch pack has failed. I had that happen once on my 420. It went all at once with a screeching noise. New fiber discs were all it needed. They just got to be too thin. Stan Thank you for the reply but, I must say, you're not a lot of fun. I've been into the steering cl...

350B dozer no power

Working a 350B about 5 minutes and the right track started slipping. Within about 2 more minutes, the right side wasn't pulling at all. It was a dead track forward or backward. The right clutch/brake was functional but that was all. Left side was working as it should .I was able to get to the shop b...

Re: Dumped my hydraulic fluid, am I damaging my pump?

Do you or a neighbor have a large enough tractor to pull/push the loader home? If so, one with a front bucket would be good to lift and block the hoe, outriggers, and front bucket. I could probably pull it with my old Dodge Ram but I doubt that Ford or Chevy could do it.

Re: Dumped my hydraulic fluid, am I damaging my pump?

Running a hydraulic pump dry can damage it. I'm not sure if there is a separate reservoir for the power steering or if that will be affected also. I'd try to remove the pump or at least disconnect the pump drive. I'm not sure about a 450C but my 350B has a lever at the front of the crankshaft that i...

Re: JD 350b weights

Measure the bumper height, load the machine on forward and measure again. Then, load it on backwards and measure . The lower the bumper--the more traction.

Re: Bought another 1010

Biggest downfall on the diesel 1010, in my opinion, is hard starting. It's not recommended to use starting fluid as it can break the top piston rings. Good idea to use the fuel primer and glow plugs. I think I'd install a block heater if you can reach it with electricity.
