Im on pull number 3 for this side now. Put it all together first time with new clutches. Go to drive the thing, and it slips, immediately pull it back to the shop. (Only drove it about 50 feet). Pull the final apart (try #2) and the pressure plate springs are weak. checked everything, it looked okay...

Back apart it comes.....

So do you need the retaining clip on the hub?

I changed the engine oil and reverser oil last night. The reverser had ATF (red) liquid instead of the hygard. Will this damage the reverser? I filled it with Hygard and it performed the same. I think the steering clutches are in poor state and slipping horribly, since it looses power trying to do a...

New 350 with Winch

Picked up a 350 diesel with manual 6 way blade and winch yesterday. Definitely a long haul out on Rte 80. Only incident was I forgot to strap the ramp on the trailer down, somehow it flipped over and was dragging on the road for about a mile before I could get it stopped. Always remember to secure y...

Sorry you had to deal with all that BS. Wish it were closer I'd snap it up in a heartbeat.
Good luck with the sale, I'll keep an ear open if I hear anyone that needs one.

Glad my neighbor is good to me, and I'm good to him. Wish it could be true for everyone, but it's not.

There is a guy that posts to the classifieds on Pennswoods.net in middle of nowhere upstate PA that has all sorts of JD Crawler parts. He might have a 455G tranny. http://classifieds.pennswoods.net/classifieds/viewad.cgi?adindex=3105068 He had a set of tracks on a 455G he said he was parting out the...

Definitely main jet issue. Had that happen. Ran good, then died when doing work. Took carb apart and bingo, giant piece of gunk in the main jet.
It's a fuel issue.

Make sure you have all the bolts out. I thought there were 8 total? It's a pain to get the quill out. Good luck.

I put a large reverser housing on a small tranny. Fit just fine. Bolt holes are just a little bigger on the reverser, so I put a flat washer on the cap screws. Ripping apart a reverser isn't fun. Front end is easy. The back end requires a 2-13/16 socket (if I remember correctly) and a hydraulic pres...

I'm guessing clutch disk has been over torqued somehow and has a kink in it, which will disengage the tractor from driving, but still will cause just enough pressure to spin the shaft and grind the gear when in neutral to whatever tranny gear you are going into. Once in gear you can shift from gear ...

Saw a 430 4 roller with a 3 point sell at auction for $20,000 last year. Same auction had a 440 with a 64 blade and didn't run, only 700 hours original (claimed), and it brought $11,000. Needless to say, I couldn't believe it and wished two of my dozers were at the same sale. I'd let a pair go for $...

Didn't even think of moving dash back, but reverser linkage is all buttoned up, and to remove the reverser linkage you have to take the foot rest out.... I think next time, I will think a little harder before doing... Friction washers are good. Just a little slop in the turn buckle, but not too bad....
