40c Bottom Plates

I would like to make a front and rear bottom plate for my 40c. I would consider purchasing them if available but I think shipping would be prohibitive. Does anyone know if there are schematics/plans/dimensions available. Also, what gauge metal are they made from? Part numbers are front AM3469T or AM...

Lavoy,
Tried to send you a message but it ended up in my outbox and wouldn't go. Anyway, I have found a set of blocks locally. Thanks for your effort.
Dave.

40c 5 roller has 35 shoes. Don't know if 420 is the same. An oversize idler will add one shoe

40c safety blocks

Someone has removed the safety blocks from my 40c. I don't know how important they are but I would like to install a pair. Does anyone have a pair or know where they might be available. Used would be good. Part #s are: M2386T safety block (2) M2387T V bolts (4) TE273YT shims (qty ?) All are for a 4 ...

Do you mean that the shaft has moved outward through the hub that the sprocket is bolted to? If the shaft is turning but the hub is not, there has to be a problem with the axle and/or hub splines. The hub can not turn without turning the sprocket unless all sprocket bolts and guide pins are broken o...

Is the axle shaft turning in the hub? If so, the spline on the axle shaft, in the hub or both must be bad unless the nut has backed off and allowed the hub to become loose on the shaft. If you have to replace either the shaft or the hub, there are two different one used depending on the serial numbe...

40c sod pan or bottom guards

I'd like to do some ground work with my 40c but I don't have either a sod pan or bottom guards. There don't seem to be any around here and if I find them somewhere else, shipping would probably be prohitive. Has anybody ever fabricated e1ther of these or know if drawings, dimensions, etc. are availa...

That's what I was afraid of. I'll have to chase down the tool. I gave it to a guy who was working on his steering clutches who passed it on to another guy. Oh well, that's the fun of old vehicles and equipment. Thanks for the help

No I didn't. I later installed steering clutches and used the gauge then but wasn't aware that it was something that needed to be done with the regular clutch. I assumed that the rebuilt unit would be set properly. Guess I was wrong?

40C cluthch problem

I rebuilt the motor in my 40C a year or so ago and installed a rebuilt clutch assembly at that time. I haven't been able to get the correct adjustment on the clutch pedal. With full adjustment, I still have about 3" free travel in the pedal and have to depress the pedal well below the footrest to ge...

Thanks Lavoy. I'll check it out. Maybe I should use rubber grommets to lift the tank a bit. I see them in the M parts book but not in the 40 parts book. Were they used on the 40 as well?

40c Fuel cap

Just received an original type high fuel cap for my crawler. It won't fit down through the hole in the hood to go on the tank. My tank might be off a Model M. Would that make a differnce? I was thinking the 40 tank might have a taller neck to come up through the hood so the cap would go on.

Brake Connecting Rod 40c

Does anyone know the correct hole to hole length for the AM860T connecting rod that goes to the brake bellcrank in the 40c clutch housing? A previous owner obviously made the one in my crawler and I don't think it is the right length as the screw in the upper rocker arm has been replaced with a long...
