Re: 420c 5 roller undercarriage specifications
When the left track does that what do you have to do to "unlock" it?

Re: 350 B Reverser
You may have spun out a bearing in the transmission. Remove the transmission cover and see if there is any movement in the shafts. You can bend a hook in a welding rod to try to wiggle the lower shaft.

Re: 440i question
This is sixty year memory working, but I recall pushing the lever forward for reverse and pulling it for forward. Sounds good to me.

Two different jets on two different carburetors, clean, unclean, same symptoms. I think you are on it. Replace the manifold.

You say "won't stay running". Does that mean it dies at idle or is it affected the same at all rpm's?

Re: New Owner, in desperate need of guidance!
I had one like that. The reverser would not completely disengage from reverse until it warmed up. Always thought it was a warped plate, but too lazy to fix it since all I had to do was warm it up with the transmission in any gear and the reverser in neutral. Worked fine after a few minutes. It would...

Re: 350 Steering Clutch Adjustment Issue
The resting position doesn't really matter as long as you can adjust after connecting. You will have to use a prybar or screwdriver to move the ball to the rod end. THEN, after connecting, check free play and adjust by disconnecting the rod and shortening/lengthening it. The missing bolt is to adjus...

Is it engaging while the clutch is pushed in or as you let it out after pushing it in?

Re: Reuse fiber/steel plates for a 450?
Thickness is more important than finish, which will take care of itself in short order with use. You probably lost thickness with corrosion of the steels but the fiber thickness should not be affected (much). If you re-use the steels they will grind down the fibers.

I have a spare 3315 complete, on the ground. Never used it and current 350 has rippers. Need to get rid of it. Where are you?

Re: 420 4spd shift shaft disassembly
The ball on the end of the shifter gets worn and causes problems like getting stuck in gear. Unless you are really trying to keep it original you can replace the transmission cover and shifter from a later model with caged shifter and solve the problem. May have to bend it a little for a crawler to ...

Re: Removing skid plate and belly pan changing reverser filter
Stan is right. I have pulled one that was not only collapsed but disintegrating. Wouldn't know it until there is a problem. BTW, on older machines that lived in humidity you may find you need a blue-tipped wrench to remove the belly pan and then you remove the side rails to install new captive nuts.

Re: Removing skid plate and belly pan changing reverser filter
You shouldn't have to pull the belly pan or any part of it to change the filter. Just remove the four bolts and take it out. You will be working at arms length. Any fluid in the reverser will drain onto the belly pan and thence wherever when the filter cover comes loose. Swab out the inside with (cl...

Re: Lost power to one side of my 350
I have never seen a hub strip out alone. Usually the shaft is broken or the splines toast on both shaft ad hub. You need to pull the right side to get the hub and ring gear out, as I recall. You can check the hub splines easily before puling the right side since the left track is still broken.

Re: Lost power to one side of my 350
Parts book shows eight fiber and seven steel plates. It assumes you will be using good parts, like you get from Lavoy. If you got the internet junk all bets are off. I cannot imagine the clutch side of the drum getting that worn, especially in a hurry. If the shaft is turning but the drum is not it ...
