Thanks Ralph and Andre for the valuable input. I heated the bolt heads and then used the impact to get them loose. Once the impact had a couple turns they came out fairly easy with the hand ratchet. Needless to say whatever bolts I put back in these will have plenty of high temp no seize compound on...

Well a little heat from the torch and all bolts are out safe and sound. http://i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k598/bozo1236/100_1749.jpg Oh the rust. Do you think there is anything salvageable here? Anyone notice that there are eight of each? That ninth fiber was still stuck to the pressure plate. htt...

That nasty four letter word, SNOW !!!! :( http://i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k598/bozo1236/100_1746.jpg Well at least I got one clutch out. Any words of advise on getting out really small and really rusted in bolts? Seems the pressure plate bolts on the clutch drum are really stuck. ...

I've been slide hammering, pulling, beating, heating, jiggling, jacking and nothing. I can get the inner drive shaft to move about and inch. Then it hits like solid metal on both ends. Are you sure there is no other fastener, clip ring or anything else that could be keeping this shaft from pulling o...

Yes I am supporting the assembly with a chain and hoist. There just seems to be some built up material that is blocking the extraction of the shaft. I have it moving about a quarter inch in and out but on that final exit it just binds up and won't come any further. Not only do I have the weight off ...

Well here is the latest. The left clutch shaft is still stuck. I am able to move it a small amount using a allthread and a puller arrangement. Another jdcrawlers member told me that the ring gear tube that these shafts connect to is possibly hollow. So If I am able to get one shaft out I may possibl...

Well now I'm trying to pull the inner drive shaft. The threads on this shaft seem to be the 3/8x16 thread. Doesn't seem to budge. I can see the splines in there and they seem a little rusty and dry. I was able to shoot a little liquid wrench in the splines. Hopefully that will help to loosen things ...

Well got the shaft and bell cranks out of the way. That plug on the outside just turned out to be a thin cap and popped out easily. Getting the woodruff keys out took a little more time. http://i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k598/bozo1236/100_1735.jpg Got the first pinion shaft out without incident. T...

Looking at the side of the tractor there is a strange plug where the end of that shaft would be.
Does this plug have to come out so the shaft and bell cranks can be removed?

Ok I'm kind of stuck again. If you look at the picture below you will see a shaft and two cast bell crank things on it. Well those 2 pieces and that shaft have to come out of the way before I can lift the clutch pack out of the housing. Now I'm reading the service manual and the description of what ...

Well got the brake band adjust screw to move. It just took some more elbow grease and a liberal dowsing with liquid wrench. On the other side that adjuster screw is completely free. Also on the other side the pinion lock bolt and nut are missing. I wonder what that would have done to the way the clu...

Thanks Ken and andregrondin for those helpful hints. I've already tried the impact a little but I think the flexing of the brake band takes the impact shock out before it gets to the threads. I will try a little heat later. I'm thinking now that if I get that clutch housing out of the way I will be ...

Here is a picture of the brake band adjusting screw. It's a special screw with detents. I really don't want to break this screw. It's rusted into the pin at the end of the brake band. Any suggestions? http://i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k598/bozo1236/screw.jpg Also anyone know how to loosen the pini...

Ok now I have a problem. The brake band adjuster screw seems to be frozen. So I can't loosen the band. Any ideas? Should I try to pull the pinion and drive shaft to get the clutch out of the way?
Any ideas here would be great.
thanks
