I too had problems with my jd40s wheeled...6 volt ....i went tractor supply and bought small reel of the heavy cable and the.with crimp on connections for the bolts etc....still had problem starting so i actually lucked out with a trip to he electrical dept of the john deere ag store...they actually...

not sure what happening on the main clutch...someone else may well have answer to that. if i recall correctly...my lever measuring from the dash...is about 5 or 6 inchs to the lever..when i adjust the brake band...i usually put a flat screwdriver in the contact point to hold lever in position while ...

ok...mine is exactly like that...i did new clutch, pressure plate and all new fibres and steels....yet my throwout bearing..locking nut rides right at the edge of the groove with a washer under the head of the bolt to be as far out as possible so that clutch releases... i am not sure just where in t...

am not getting clear picture of what you are trying to say....it sure sounds like an adjustment issue period....the clutch actually releases just a bit before brakes are applied, when adjusted properly...you literally have to release the locking bolt on the throwout bearing to get proper adjustment ...

i would try adjusting again doing each step by the book , have found that it may require several adjustments to get the proper feel on these little girls. they seem to be just a bit funky at times....mine actually went back too far and got to the clicking and went back to adjusting procedure again a...

you have 2 choices on posting pictures...first is the site has a dedicated pic server..you need to read all the info listed in the instructions for the "dedicated picture server" located n the "Q&A forum" which show up at the bottom of the board index when you login to the crawler site..it tells how...

We have folks all over the place and you could just as easily have someone nearby that can physically be there to help walk thru processes, which is why suggestion to have location info...also parts for machine. keep at it..are really easy to work on , but sometimes hard to break loose and understan...

transmission generally is 'condensation'...you can probably try adding sea foam treatment to clear that up...can also add to your hydraulics a well.

they are best kept under cover or tarps.

keep at it...it is simply following thru the procedures...these are nice machines and will do a lot more than you might think...mine literally tore out a group of trees...standing in middle of yard up to six inch diameter --7 or 8 f them with roots tied together and could not pull them down to separ...

Again, first you need the manual and read on adjusting the steering brakes....your lever is traveling too far and is actually kicking out of the three ball bearings that ride under the mechanism....that (clicking) tells you that adjustment is needed. once you have gone thru the adjustment procedures...
