Re: I bought a 1010C dozer
I think if you are building an airplane, or a $50000.00 race car engine, I think you are on the right track with your differential gauge compression tester. If you are working on 50 yr old 1010 crawler( or similar) I believe if you got a good old regular compression tester, you might find out all yo...

Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old
A suggestion - if you haven’t pre- lubed engine( forced oil into oil gallery with external pump and oil container, ) maybe roll engine in short bursts - 10 to 15 seconds ea, to get oil into complete internal parts of engine before engine starts, watch engine oil pressure gauge , it should start to r...

Don’t forget to have cyl head rebuilt( by a good rebuilder/shop) and check it for cracks first

Re: 78 450c won’t turn over but one revolution?
I just posted a suggestion but it seems it didn’t show up here, so will try again. Seems like the machinery gremlins have been at work on your machine while it has been sitting!!  I would remove all jumper cables, and ground cable from batteries, just as safety while your hands in tight s...

440 ic diesel
I have found a running wreck of a 440 ic but a diesel, the one I have is a gas, 1958 by serial #, is the engine clutch the same- gas or diesel? Trans- or is all diesels 5 spd? Are any of the drive line parts heavy- duty, because of the diesel- S. clutches or brakes and finals?

Cylinder head and block usage by casting #
I found by accident, a cyl head and block usage by casting numbers. Seems like it goes back to 40’s, and up to middle 90’s. it is 600 + pages and a PDF file. All car makers, HD equipment co., on some casting number pics of cyl heads- it shows original cyl head height, valve height etc etc. It is not...

Re: New OS piston clearance
I guess that is one therory of why cyl walls are honed. I don’t have bad results, because I don’t hone. As I stated, I remove top ring ridge ( to get piston out ) and if walls are relatively ok, install new rings etc and go. No oil burning or blow by. ( I have rebuilt many, both gas and diesel, line...
