Re: Alternator or Generator
Since I took out most of the old wiring and went to the one wire alternator system there is no fuse in the new system, should I add one?

Re: Alternator or Generator
Should I wire the alternator so that it will function at low RPM? I bought a one Wire Alternator, also should it be necessary to put a ground wire to the back side of that alternator? Or the brackets will supply it enough ground?

Re: Alternator or Generator
Mr. Stan,
If I run one wire from the alternator to the starter then that wire will also be connected to the positive battery wire too. Will that be fine?

Idler adjusting tube
Hello friends, I have one idler adjusting tube that is locked good, won’t twist, won’t pull apart, took it to an industrial shop tried twisting it with a 36” pipe wrench, no go. All the screws are out of it, soaked in penetrating oil, it’s still at the shop, the guy that does the job is busy on a jo...

Re: Alternator or Generator
By the way the coil I bought is a 12 volt Petroniux flamethrower, someone here talked about it awhile back so it sounded good so I bought one, Will that be alright on the dozer?

Re: Alternator or Generator
The starter has been converted to 12 volts, I do have the service manual, the good one, lol, I thought by eliminating the generator and voltage regulator would change the whole wiring diagram , I will check the wiring schematics to wire up the instrument panel, thank you all for your inputs!

Re: Alternator or Generator
It is all 12volts, negative post to ground, a wire from the starter goes to a switch, the switch to the positive coil, wire from negative coil to the points, alternator wire to starter, I’m having trouble hooking up the alternator, I’m needing some brackets, anyone have some for a 1959 440IC? The si...

Re: Alternator or Generator
I’m going all 12 volts, some of the instruments on the panel are electric, wire them to the battery post? Or make a panel? Thought of using the old turn switch but looks rough in the back of it, the small tube thing is about to fall off, think it’s the fuse? Might as well buy a new one. Having a har...

Re: Alternator or Generator
Stan, About your response on the “Alternator or Generator” post I have some questions to verify the Wiring diagram: Get a 12 volt battery, any preference on type of battery? red positive cable to the starter, negative to ground, the starter has only one wire hookup, that’s it? One wire alternator, T...

Grease fitting size 7/16 27
I’m looking for bolts that will fit in the grease fitting, I’m going to clean up around those areas for prime and paint and not damage those grease fittings, can’t seem to find bolts that size 7/16 27. The 27 is 27 threads per inch, they do sell 7/16 20 but not in 27.

Re: Timing the oil pump
It describes it just as you stated, I laid the engine on its back and took the oil pan off and worked with the pump, it’s narrow end is now facing outside the distributor rotor was facing the front spark plug but now is facing parallel with the engine block and pointing to the front. It took a littl...

Re: Timing the oil pump
According to the manual looks like the narrow side of the coupling should face outside of tractor with an additional 1/4 clock wise turn?
