Re: John deere 70 excavator

Well everything works except I have the battery charge light on the instrument panel. How do you go about checking the alt and how should the wiring be from starter to alt. Looks like they made a jumper wire from alt to starter. Don't know if that should be there or not.

The batteries where wired together for 12v and don't know what volt the solenoid was he got was, no markings on it. So I put a 24v solenoid on and wired the batteries for 24 volt...

When adjusting the brake I don't feel the indent and loos to be a worn out bolt. Can you take that bolt out and replace from the top without something flying apart? Also lookin...

Went to Deere today to check on a grease gun and grease for rollers. They said to use a regular gun and grease. They never heard of corn head grease. So I ordered gun from Amazon to be delivered in July sometime (some service that is). Is there a special grease I can pick up at the auto parts that w...

Hey Stan I have a 1973 350B (confirmed with Deere) with dry brakes. Cutting Edge has a (D) with problems. I don't know much about them either but have learned a few things on here. Next ? I have is how do you grease the rollers? Do they have a special fitting to grease them with?

It has a John Deere winch (3315019154T) if I read it right. Is this original and did they make a separate manual for the winch?
Also are there any videos about adjusting brakes and steering on this type of dozer?

I paid 200 at Deere. It sat for a year before I got it. He had new brakes put on at sometime but I guess after using it a couple of days it doesn't want to steer well now. Want to adjust them but not sure how too. Other than that It is a pretty sound dozer.

Thanks for all the great info. I got to play around with the winch today and here is what it does. RPM's around 1600 and you have to play with (wiggle back and forth an inch or so) and eventually it goes to free spool and you can pull the cable out. Reels in good but does not hold well while moving ...

I just purchased this dozer and cannot figure out the winch. I can get it to reel in and that's about it. Is there a certain way to make it reel out or is it just a free spool type? Is there any operating manuals online to look at for this type of dozer? Any help is appreciated. Thanks
