Are you able to change gears in the transmission? You are correct that you have a problem up stream from the frozen steering clutch. Either in the rear diff or the trans. I believe you will need to tear down quite a bit to get to the route of the problem.

Re: 450B steering clutch opinions
Unfortunately I have heard of several people going with the poor quality fiber discs and had early and total failure. Consider contacting Lavoy, owner of this site. He may have these discs available. He only sells/deals in high quality items. I don’t have knowledge of the bi-metallic discs you have ...

Re: Any you guys ever hear of this ?
The Deere 450 crawlers only use shims in the front idler forks for aligning the track in the center of the idler wheel. The grease is left in the adjuster. This adjuster is attached at the rear to a large spring. The idler floats at the front and if the front is impacted the energy is transferred to...

If you have not found an idler from the above sources, consider this contact. C&C equipment out of IN uses this company quite a bit and recommends them highly.

“I found that the idler has some considerable slop when prying on it. I don’t know if this amount of slop is normal with the tension removed from the idler. But, something is telling me it’s normal.” This is not normal. Given the fact that the rest of the undercarriage is I great nick, I would say t...

Re: Oh boy, need a lot of track help
I’m going to assume there is significant wear on your undercarriage, given that it has spontaneously derailed. If it is good to great shape there will be no short cut, but to drive the master pin out or uncouple the master link (if you have a new “wet chain”). You can release the track adjuster, and...

Correct, there is a difference in nominal operating pressure and burst pressure.

Should be fine. Pressure relief is usually around 2,250.

Re: What PSI are 450 hydraulic hoses for loader ?
I use two wire hydraulic hose. I think max operating pressure of 6,000. I am pretty sure the two wire hose is what was used by Deere for the loader application.

Re: John Deere 450b
Turbo is under the hood about mid-engine. Find the heavy flexible rubber hose supplying pressurized oil to the turbo. Follow that hose back, you should then find the port block, unless someone has heavily modified.
