450C
I am thinking about selling one or both of my 450's since I don't use them much any more. One that I am selling is a 1978 450C, ripper, brush cab with exhaust. It has been kept in the barn for the past 30 years with only about 200 hours of use. The paint is great and it is a very strong and responsi...

rod
I would use a standard hot rolled rod as the driver. Any type of hardened steel might tend to break off sharp chunks that are dangerous. I have broken several track with a tool I made by welding a short lenght of rod to a handle about 4 feet long. I stood on top the track while my brother held the d...

450
Your best avenue after reading the past posts would be to take multiple photos in detail of the machine. Look for any cracks. welds where repairs have been made. Check for side frames cracked or clutch housing bolts broken or missing. Detailed photos of the tracks, rollers, idlers, pins and bushings...

fuel tank
It would cause both problems.
to clean it out, you might try to flatten the end of the coat hanger a litttle and use a variable speed battery drill to slowly drill a little at a time as you attempt to clean the tube. Be sure to not get the wire stuck and keep the speed low.

I never shut the fuel valve off on my crawlers.
What appears to be happening is a vaccuum developing in your fuel tank and when you shut the engine down, fuel is pulled back out of the lines into the tank. Air then leaks through any fittings to the fuel pump, injection pump and injectors. Just take the tank cap loose and see how it runs. Leave th...

Fuel
You are getting air in the fuel line. If you do not see any fuel leaks, I would suggest loosening the tank cap a bit and see if it makes a difference in how the tractor performs. If the vent line to the tank is stopped up, you can create a reduced pressure in the fule tank and suck fuel back into th...

sprocket
I have never seen any weights of any sort attached to the sprokets. There is a sprocket cover or rock guard that can be attached to the frame rail that covers most of the sproket. Is that what you are looking at? As for the rear counter weight, you should not have to remove that to split the track. ...

Take care to support the housing really well when you press out the old bearing.

leak
If you are getting that much oil in the clutch housing and starter, it is probably coming from a leak that is under pressure. There is no seal that I remember on the transmission input shaft but that is where the transmission pump is located. There is a gasket on the cover of the counter shaft but t...

How are you making the determination that you are getting fuel in the oil? An increase in oil level? When do you check it? How high does it get?

Anyone see a problem with using the above oil in a Deere utility tractor? It does not have an clutch packs, just gears and cylinders.

loader
If I remember correctly, the boom cyclinder has a full forward float position that locks the handle and opens the cylinders to the hydraulic tank. You should be able to raise the bucket without removing any hoses.

starter
Before I did anything with raising the loader, I would indeed do as the previous poster stated. Clean the battery cables. You should have gotten more than 9 volts at the solenoid and a much larger dip in the ammeter. If the solenoid winding was "open", you would have gotten battery voltage. If the s...
