Re: 450C hydraulic pumps - differences between 6 way and manual blade
Thanks boys much appreciated. My serial # is 363000 so it would have come with the 15GPM, thanks for that. Somehow I missed the serial # split when I was looking at the parts catalog. As for twitchy, my blade is so slow with the 15....I better time it to see if it is in spec, but I never run my mach...

450C hydraulic pumps - differences between 6 way and manual blade
Well happy new year everyone! It's been a crazy busy year and I haven't played with the dozer in a year but I got it out yesterday to remove 2' of built up snow in the yard, just too much for the Bobcat. It got me thinking about all the things I need to do to my machine, I bought it in August 2018 a...

Re: 1985 450 E dozer engine oil pressure
Try threading a mechanical gauge in the sender hole to see what your oil pressure is...guessing it is 1/8" pipe thread. That will tell you if your sender or even gauge is bad. My water temp gauge got water inside and the readings went all wonky, ended up changing the gauge.

Re: Looking at a 450C anything to watch out for?
It looked to me in the pics that the rollers had no fittings. Later ones are sealed and have no fittings. May well have been replaced when they put on loader tracks. But. Also look on the inside of all of them and see if they are on backwards. Meaning, they still have fittings but are on wrong. Che...

Re: Looking at a 450C anything to watch out for?
Well she is home and in the driveway...batteries are charging and ready to go thru it tomorrow. I had a "Raiders of the Lost Ark" experience today, trying to find the hydraulic adjusters, like digging for the lost Ark, so embedded in dirt, packed so hard that a pry bar could barely dislodge the dirt...

Re: Looking at a 450C anything to watch out for?
Well darn you are correct Jim, my old brain remembered seeing something in the track section of the service manual about having a pin over the top carrier roller, but that was when measuring track sag, not chain stretch, and yes I remember seeing the trick with the pin, I will try that this weekend,...

Re: Looking at a 450C anything to watch out for?
Well we made a deal and I will get it this weekend. I have already started pricing the new U/C parts and sprockets and chains will be about $3K, if rollers are required $4K. There is also a local equipment shop that still has a track press, they will quote me once I give them link count and pad hole...

Re: Looking at a 450C anything to watch out for?
Thanks Stan, Yes the ripper was an add on, originally had a winch which was exchanged for this CAT ripper, the mounts are good on the machine, but the ripper itself has broken a few times, needs some serious beefing up. Yes agreed, I think it is a worthwhile machine to invest the U/C replacement cos...

Re: Looking at a 450C anything to watch out for?
I looked at the machine today and was happy with the way it looked, however it does need some work. It looks like it's all original paint, someone has added a ripper at some point, I started it and ran it up to a field to push some dirt, and yes, I like wet clutches, it's like having power steering,...

Re: Looking at a 450C anything to watch out for?
Thanks guys, My apologies, I realized this morning that I posted this in the wrong section....oops. Anyway, thanks for the tips. Are there any things specific to the 450C that have been common problem areas? This would be my first turbo machine, are there any peculiarities to the turbo engine? Is th...

Looking at a 450C anything to watch out for?
This will be a big step up for us as we venture into a larger machine a 450C apparently early 80s I am awaiting the details from the current owner. It’s out of town and I may make a trip this weekend to go look at it needs a few things apparently possibly sprockets possibly more don’t know anything ...

Re: Looking at a 350B ...anything you see that says..RUN!!?
I like to idea of using it as a "spare parts machine". Forget about restoring it, if I can get it at the right price, there are a lot of usable items on it, engine, tranny, reverser, drives, 3315 power winch etc. We have 2 350's already, so a parts machine might be the best way to think about this o...

Re: Looking at a 350B ...anything you see that says..RUN!!?
Well it was a good learning experience...  When we arrived I noticed it was in a different location than last year when I saw it, good sign, it moves. This time we had more time and went over it for 5 minutes, enough time to decide oh boy, had a few giggles, took a few more pics to pos...

Re: Looking at a 350B ...anything you see that says..RUN!!?
Thanks Stan,
Okay, well that is a good way to look at it, appreciate the opinions and it gives us something to consider. Heading there in a couple of hours, I'll report back this evening.
Thank you

Re: Looking at a 350B ...anything you see that says..RUN!!?
Thanks boys, that's exactly the sort of info I was looking for. He turned down an offer of $2K last year (CDN$, would be about $1300 USD) so given what you have told me, and what I expect he might want for it $2500 or so, (about $1800 USD) is it worth it? Assuming the engine runs okay, no knocking a...
