Hi I removed the line from the tank, opened the valve and nothing came out, I could hear a noise coming from ther tank, so I removed the fill cap and then the fuel came out It sure sounds like you've narrowed down the source of the problem. I don't know where the tank vents (possibly through the ca...

With the old starters if they did that we always loosened off the lower solenoid post and took the cable right off .Then gently give the post a push in and a half turn .Then pull it out and install the cable and it is good to go for several more years .Delco starter solenoids had a second life and ...

Replacing starter solenoid on a 450

Can I replace the solenoid on the starter in my 450 without pulling the starter motor off the engine first? When the engine is warm, I have to hit the starter button over and over again (just a clicking sound in the solenoid) before it eventually engages. When it's cold it starts fine. I'm assuming ...

Re: PTO Shaft,450b

Is there a leaver somewhere? There should be a small lever hiding under the air cleaner canister. You have to push the foot clutch all the way down to engage the engine clutch before activating it though. If your engine clutch is busted like mine, you have to shut off the engine and pull the lever ...

Playing Devil's Advocate here, after the reading I've done, it's pretty much impossible to move a 450-series crawler (legally) without a CDL. Every state has a limit of 26,000lbs before you need a commercial license. If a 450-series crawler weighs 15,000lbs plus, that would mean the weight of your t...

Re: Winch for 450D

I would like to find a winch for it, but not sure what fits...What should I look for--will a winch from a skidder work? Suggestions and recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks for the help!! I don't know anything about hydraulic winch options, but the factory winch is the model 3325 and was dr...

450 radiator compatability

The radiator in my 450 straight (HLR) started leaking. I don't have it out yet so I'm not exactly sure where in the radiator the leak is yet. Hopefully I can get it repaired, but just to keep my options open I started looking around online for used radiators. It looks like the part number for this r...

I just fixed my alternator regulator problem with a trip to the auto parts store to get a mid 80's truck gm alternator for about $45. direct replacement, simple hook up, and you get to rip out about 50 feet of old wire. works great That's what I did too. It saves a lot of headache when you go with ...

I got my new discs in the mail today. http://i.imgur.com/WPMJQh.jpg It was 50F today so I had to carry everything a quarter mile to where the 450 was parked. http://i.imgur.com/Det3vh.jpg Wished I would have brought the cordless drill and that sandpaper wheel. It took a lot of emery cloth and elbow ...

And one more option to be aware of is that it is possible for you to do it yourself as well. Most disks are bonded nowadays, and a few years ago I was trying to find some brake disks for my neighbors tractor (a Case 200B) and they were unavailable. I could get them relined if I set the disks away b...

That said an orbital sander would probably work pretty well too. For cleaning up clutch plates, pressure plates, and brake rotors my tool of choice is usually an orbital sander with 50 grit sandpaper. IMHO 36 grit is usually too coarse and 120 grit is not only too fine as you want a less polished s...

$400 for refurbished? Sounds like prices have really gone up. I guess the price I found was for new aftermarket (not refurb), but at $380 it's still quite a beat cheaper than what Deere charges ($795.60!!!!). Seems like a barn full of used ones would be worth its weight in gold these days. Well, si...

Nice to see you back jdemaris. Yeah, the brake is definitely a problem on this winch. My brake band suffers from the same problem these clutch discs had: the fiber material has turned sort of chalky. Burnishing and re-adjusting helped, but it still slips with good hitch. It isn't bad enough yet for ...

3325 winch clutch discs

The winch on my 450 stopped pulling the other day. After checking pressure it was obvious that the problem was in the clutch. I pulled out the clutch plates and sure enough one of the three fiber disks is pretty much completely gone. This winch sat unused for who knows how many years (decades?) befo...
