Hi,

Or, a 40/1010 hybrid! :O

Probably an Oliver, tho. Used to be there were more Oliver crawlers around than Deere. All died horrible deaths from overwork. They were lighter built. Then the serial killers started in on the Deeres.....

Hi, I hope you don't have to do what I had to on my 'M' to get the pistons out. The oil rings were so rusted into the bores, I had to chisel out the tops of both pistons and use a hub puller from a Ford Model 'A' to yank them out the top..... Probably not, though, since it ran last fall. The 'M' had...

Hi,

The bolt you pull is the one at the end of the channel leading to the button fitting. They designed that channel such that you had to pull that bolt before you can get the end of the gun to slide onto the button. ;)

Hi,

A 440 is standard painted in yellow. So, no CJ code. If a 440 were ordered in green, then it would have a CJ code.

I did know of couple 440 crawlers painted in green, but do not know if they were ordered green, or painted afterwards.

Hi, Global warming is a planetary average. As long as the Hot parts get Hotter, the Cold parts can get Colder! ;) The same applies to duration of Hot and Cold, of course. Hence your Signs.... Our North Carolina Spring is late. Many people planted by the guides, and we frosted up two nights last week...

The 30 series tested out a lot of the styling and comfort changes that would be introduced on the new gen tractors. 440 was a purpose built industrial, and if you look at production figures for final year of the 420 and both years of the 430, it killed the sales for the most part. That being said, ...

The 430 is part of Deere's 30 series. Constantly there were new improvements to the crawler line. Big difference is the reverser. It is the same as the 440. Almost equal in production as the BO Lindeman. Duke Hi, The differential style reverser came out on the 420. I have one on my Phase-III. I am ...

Hi, The 430 was essentially a dash and tin change from the 420 Phase III. It was done to the entire range of machines, not just the small ones. The entire x30 series was just a styling change. The purpose of which was to sell some new machines to folks that could not stand the idea of the end of the...

Hi, Man! I bet this sets a record for the most delay for a reply! I had been working in the Dallas area from December 2010 to October 2013, and not in the board much during that time. I was home only a few weeks a year during that time, so about the only thing my 420c did was get started once in a w...

Hi, It is a rainy day here, so I am perusing photos this morning. Is that what mine is *supposed* to look like?? I have this idea sometimes, to paint mine up. But, then I always re-think that. She came by her 'Oliver' look naturally! I am so used to it, if I repainted it I might never get over the s...

Hi, Deere made over 2000 40C's as three rollers. The idea was to use the short tracks to gain additional grip over wheels to pull three bottom plows. At least that was the idea behind the MC, and that idea continued on with the 40C. Of course, other folks had other ideas, and wanted to add other thi...
