Re: 450C HLR diag question
In my manual it says on page 130-5-10: "NEUTRAL The neutral cycle is the same as “Step 1” on page 130-5-6. Oil flow is shown in Fig. 130-5-6. The piolot valve dumps oul, allowing the bypass valve to close. This seals off the full flow passage to the clutches. At the same time, the shift valve dumps ...

Re: 450C HLR diag question
Hi Paul, Thanks for all your help with my problem. It sounds like there is something floating around in the low clutch circuit. Maybe it has an acorn in there. When it’s in neutral there is no back flow of oil from the clutch pistons returning. When the hi or reverse clutch is applied the cl...

Re: reverser oil flow question
The clutch pack is out and laying on the bench. When I pulled the clutch valve housing off the main valve housing the check ball was on its seat. When I turned it over the ball fell out on the bench. It was clean. I pulled the spring and stop out and found a small chunk of blue silicone in the passa...

Re: reverser oil flow question
A better question might be: How many acorns are there? No more acorns in any of the lines. Sounds like you have found your problem or a least some parts of your problem. I think this is a problem and I’m glad I found it….but I don’t think it IS the problem. The symptoms don’t seem to match up. I re...

Re: reverser oil flow question
I got started pulling the engine today. I removed the hard nose and pulled the pressure gauge off of the cooler return line and lowered it in a bucket to drain. Some oil drained out and then I heard something drop into the bucket….an acorn had rolled out of the hose. I then pulled the inlet hose off...

Re: Engine weight
I don't know the exact weight but I have pulled the engine from mine with a Harbor Freight 2 ton foldable car engine crane. I had to extend the boom all the way. Also the leg supports just fit between the tracks. It rolled easily on concrete with the engine hanging.

Re: reverser oil flow question
Oljoe, If I wanted to show a video of a system sucking air I would show yours. Sit on the hydraulic tank again with seat and levers removed. I had that response from several people……the sucking air part not the sit on the tank part. I’m not really sure what you meant about the sit on the tan...

Re: reverser oil flow question
Here is the air test of the clutch valve operation. I pressed the pedal down ½” then went further. The pressure seemed to respond properly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqrkAOp7s3Q We had storms rolling through yesterday and more coming today. It might be a couple of days before I get back to wor...

Re: HLR Transmission Fluid Question
I bought some oil from Orchland Farm and Home that was labelled “Premium 303”. It had a red tint but was not as dark red as transmission fluid. It defiantly wouldn’t hurt to change it.

Re: reverser oil flow question
On the diagram, it shows the test port as on the shift bypass valve. I am curious if the gauge pulsation is that bypass valve moving from around. Interesting enough, if that valve fails in the closed position, oil would only be entering the clutch engagement circuit (and touching the test port) thr...

Re: reverser oil flow question
I agree the shims influenced the main pressure and the clutch valve should not dump the pressure. One of the check balls is supposed to hold the pressure when the clutch valve is raised enough to vent the oil. If that check ball was held off It’s seat that could cause the pressure to drop, but I’m n...

Re: reverser oil flow question
Thanks for posting the video Paul. At least I can see how it is supposed to work. I made a 17 Minute video with my phone yesterday but have yet to upload it to anything. I went through all the posts Saturday morning and made a list of tests that I thought needed to be done. The top cover was removed...

Re: reverser oil flow question
Could the buzzing noise be pressure escaping through a faulty valve? Which one? Pressure builds up from the pump, so the pump is good, right? I think the buzzing IS a valve. The only noise that I can say is similar is when a main hydraulic system has a low oil level. Isn’t it correct that it is air...
