They actually make a tool to do this. A quick internet search shows lots of different tools available, from Amazon, Ebay, Summit....etc... most resemble a large tubing cutter. Perhaps one of the repair shops in your area has one and would do it for you. Much as I love buying tools, I wouldn't buy on...

We were planning on going, but since I'm not working now, decided not to spend the money this time. Hopefully we can make the next one.

We have had just enough snow to cover the ground and keep things white. Keeps spitting a little each night...just enough to keep it that way.
Merry Christmas everyone!!

Stan's right, that would be fun to take to some shows. It would sure draw attention.
With my tractors and hit and miss engines, I have too big a backlog of unfinished projects..........

Kind of cute...Not a bad looking machine. Pretty much all we see around here are a few TD6 or TD9's....and they are red.

That is interesting that it uses the same carb as a R. I've never been around an R, but it's pony was a 2 cyl......from a 70 on, Deere used 4 cyl for the pony.

Our D4 was a 51...fuel tank behind the seat.

Stan, I've never heard anything about a marriage...could very well be. Interesting..... Lavoy, I think that's true about the hydraulics......also, this was about the time Jessie Lindeman was building a working relationship with Deere.....he was also working pretty closely with Caterpillar about the ...

Nice!! That's what we had on the ranch.
Is the fuel tank behind the seat or beside you? Does the pony motor have electric start?
If you need any tech info, I'm pretty sure I have the service manuals and a parts manual, and I could pass on the info.

I've seen a couple of dealer stickers on tractors over the years showing the Deere/Cat relationship of that particular dealer. And you are right...those days are gone...never happen today. During this time of "togetherness" Cat decided to get out of the combine business so they either gave the combi...

Nothing wrong with a good ol' D4... growing up on the ranch we had a MC and a D4 7U series. Each had a job to do, and both served their purpose well.
I have the MC and my uncle has the D4 on the ranch. I may have some books on the D4 if you need some info, depending on the series you have.

My MC was purchased new by my great granddad....when my dad retired from the ranch in 1994, I got it. Nice to have the family heritage.
Sorry about hijacking the thread...........
