350c tranny
I agree full heartedly with what Deere,D8 and cutting edge has told you... there is no way on earth that the reverser can leak past its rear seal fill up the huge space between the tranny and reverser and then push past the input seal into the tranny,,, for one thing the oil sloshing around the reve...

450C brakes
Stx,, it is uncommon for both brakes to go at once on the 450c wet clutch-brake system... I can't help but wonder if there is a mechanical linkage unhooked under the floor pan...or under the seat,, also by clutch housing.. if you could get some one to help you.. have one person slowly push the brake...

450 transmission
Dr. Loch, the drain hole is in the very bottom of the housing with a cotter pin in it..where the clutch housing meets the tranny.. it really is to small as any rust or build up will plug it.. the idea is that the cotter pin rattling around will keep it clear,, but rust usually freezes up the pin so ...

Not sure excactly what he meant but sounds like your situation.. humor. anyway I have many used 350 idlers for sale.. and one real good shell. priced according to wear but reasonable.. I see you are from Maine,, I post on Vermont,NH and Main...

350D
Dear sir, from what I can tell of the John Deere hydraulics is this, it appears to me that the main control valve is basically the same but with add ons.. Example,, we have a 450C parts dozer with all angle 6-way blade and backhoe ,, the 6-way control valve is the same as 350C and 350D, but they hav...

450C final seal
you guys are right about the newer 450C's having a common sump.. but correct me if I misread the post,, you asked about the final drive being overfull... the common sump only applies to linking the transmission housing and steering clutch housings to equal oil levels.. not the final drive.. if oil i...

450 brake
You can replace the brake band on straight 450 and 450B without taking the final drive and sprocket apart.. they are hinged in the middle for this reason... I still find it alittle easier when taking out the old one to tie the new one to the old one... then as I pull out the old one the new one foll...

Raise it anyway you can,, but another tractor loader or backhoe or excavator works the fastest,, remember to pull on the lift handle for the bucket during raising to let oil by inside the cylinders... also it will not stay up on it's own after raising it this way.... caution!! after it has been rais...

It sounds like your HLR clutch pack is already smoked... not to be the bearer of bad news but from what you described it is slipping and causing all the heat.. you need to put a gauge on it to check pressures,,, if it is low pressure in all ranges there may be hope that you can shim relief valve to ...

450 seal
Congratulations on your dozer purchase,, 450C and 450D are some of my favorite JD dozers.. the only way of replacing that seal is by removing the final drive from the dozer... it goes in from the backside of the case.. quite simple really except getting to it.. I hate to give this type of advice but...
