i am pretty sure that there shouldn't be any oil in there at all. the oil gets in between the clutch plates and then they don't do what they are suppose to do. when you pull on the lever the throught out bearing dis-engages the clutch and the brake banks grabs the wheel. this stops the track from tu...

i have a jd 440icd and had the same problems your describing. the culprit in my case was a bad seal on the final drive. it leaked the oil all out onto the clutch plates of the final drive and therefor it only slipped when power was applied. It would also not respond to the pull on the lever as the b...

water temp gauge

i had to replace the water temp gauge with an after market one, on my jd 440 1cd. the new gauge has a sensor that needs to be in contact with the coolant in the motor.

i cant find where this would be out, does any one have any ideas.

voltage regulator heating up

i just wired up my jd 440icd. When i start the machine the meter shows that the generator is charging. but when i shut the machine off after only a minute of running, and then let it sit for a few minutes, the voltage regulator gets very hot. when i pull off one of the battery cables from the batter...

the generator and regulator will still function as it should?

so it should just be wire it up as per diagram?

if i have my machine a positive grounded unit, would it effect the way i would boost it with my truck? i think i understand the concepts everyone has shared with me. the voltage regulator is brand new and i will see what information is on it, to see if i can run it with a negative ground. i don't wa...

the battery that was in the machine was a 12 volt, so i replaced it with the same. It has a generator and i just purchased a new replacement voltage regulator.

if i reverse the battery cables to go the positive ground, wouldn't it then spin the motor backwards?

elecrtical help

hello all i've just finished fixing the final drive clutches on my 440 icd and had the fun of driving it around last night. I am now at the electrical re-wiring stage. It appears that the machine has been modified from its original positive ground system and is now a negative ground workings. i can ...

i just finished putting my 440 icd together and took it for a spin last night. It turned both ways and seemed to be just fine. I rebuilt the clutches and got gears and seals as well. i figured since i got into the project that far i might as well replace. A oil seal failure is what caused the clutch...

i removed the blower and was able to suck out considerable amount of goop from that side. I then removed the fitting from the other side of the block, this created a opening that had no restrictions at all. i started the motor again and this time there was no slobbering and air was moving thru the a...
