if you got nice clean fluid out of the inspection window, I would double check all the basics again.....could be a gummed up stuck or bad fuel shutoff solenoid...... I always try to eliminate everything first then commit to removing the pump for service.

you are right, collapse the adjuster as far as it will go, then I use a come along around the track and to the bucket to hold the idler forward....this should give you enough room to separate the front yoke and get it out. you can also sometimes get the spring to come out of it's perch once the pres...

diesel additives for old equipment

I have searched and read a ton of info about keeping old machines lubricated with the new diesel fuel.
most of the info is quite old now and I am wondering if anything newer is out for additives for the old machines to run on ulsd.

I have the counter weights on my loader, but I have a scarifer that has mounts for counter weights built into it. I run 3 weights on it, it came with 5......without any weight the machine is pretty much useless rear end pops up and you spin the tracks trying to fill the bucket. it also puts a ton of...

it is not normal to have gaskets weeping oil out during an engine break in period. I have never used a break in oil, always used regular oil that engine called for. I run them up to temp for the first time, for maybe 20 mins or so and shut them down and drain oil and change filter. you have somethin...

the sleeve o rings will shrink and dry out, sitting for long periods of time with often cause marginal seals to just start leaking. fresh oil and running may get the o ring seals swollen back up again, but most likely anti freeze will continue to leak in and running it will result in destroyed beari...

is it like a fiber and rubber mixture?
if it is you may have hydraulic packing(s) in a cylinder breaking apart and traveling through the system.

should be able to get adjusters out without splitting track. collapse the adjuster to get grease to come out and make some room for yourself to work. now you need a way to pull front idler forward...I have used a come along hooked to the bucket or blade and tighten it up to hold idler forward to tak...

that's a cool story, you found the problem BEFORE pulling the reverser.
I have gotten lucky on machine repairs once in awhile but never repaired a broken HLR for 3 bucks.
