Series 20 Winch

The cylinder that was my main problem is behind the pressure plate. It is a groove about 8" in diameter, 3/4" deep, 1/2" wide. When you pull on the winch control handle, brake fluid is pushed into the groove, pushes on a rubber "quad ring", pushes on a metal ring, pushes on the pressure plate. My un...

Series 20 Winch

Stretch, Thanks for the offer, but even if you were giving it away, I don't think I'd want to pay for the stamps that it would take to mail it to Matlock. How did you get it rebuilt? I have two of them, both with the same problem; rusted out pressure cylinders that won't hold brake fluid. I was told...

M1

I haven't been following this post, but I saw an ad in the Aberdeen "Daily World" selling an M1. He was selling some extra clips and other stuff with it. 308 caliber if I remember correctly. He was asking around $1600 for it. If you can't find the "Daily World" ads online, let me know and I'll dig t...

Winch for 2010

I've been looking for some time for a newer winch to replace the old (and dead) Series 20 on the back of my crawler. According to my parts book, a direct bolt up replacement is a 3325. I've found a guy parting out a 440 skidder with a 3305 winch on it. Before I go and spend half a day driving; does ...

Battery Conditioner/40c receipt

A few months ago I bought a battery maintainer/conditioner that was advertised as being able to extend the life of a battery up to double, using "patented technology to produce a wide range of high frequency pulses". Well, after using the battery charger/maintainer/conditioner for two months, my 8 y...

1010 parts crawler in Washington State $300

Found this on Craig's list. It's on Whidbey Island.
Sprocket covers are worth $300. Get the rest of the crawler for free.

Hmmm, I wonder how the Humane Society could have such force as to make 63%, of the people voting on the measure, to be for Proposition 2? And, if they do have such power, how do I get them to support single payer health care? I found this description of proposition 2 on the Web: "The law, which take...

2010 Serial # Location

The serial # on my 2010 crawler is located on the left side of the bell housing, just above the starter.
On my 2010 tractor, it is on the right side of the engine in front of the distributor.

420c for sale

Jon, The video on You-Tube was a great idea. I'm on dial-up here, so I had to go to town to find a high speed connection so I could watch. The crawler looks to be in excellent shape. I'd be happy to store it for you down here in Washington State until I could save up the money to purchase it....

40c Blade drop

I'm sure I saw it here somewhere, but after an hour of searching old posts I haven't found it.

When I raise the blade on my 40c it drops an inch or so before it starts coming up. Isn't there something I should be looking at in the control valve?

Thanks,
Brian

John Deere 410 Backhoe hydraulics bleed down

Ken, Thanks for your insight and for taking the time on the detailed reply. I am currently looking for used replacement valves or an entire valve block. It looks like mine can be rebuilt for $600 to $900 apiece, though I can't justify spending that kind of money on my play toy right now. I may try a...

John Deere 410 Backhoe hydraulics bleed down

Lavoy, thanks for the suggestion. I blocked off the lines going to the backhoe valve block and the pressure at the test port on the pump jumped to just a hair over 2400 lbs. cold. I don't think all the valves would go bad, so I'm trying to figure out a way to test each valve independently for intern...

John Deere 410 Backhoe hydraulics bleed down

I have an early '70's JD 410 backhoe I purchased almost 5 years ago. I use it around the farm and never in a hurry. I didn't know what to look for before purchase. So the front bucket being really, really slow after warm up went unnoticed. As did the excessive bleed down and lack of power in the res...

2010 tach cable

I just bought a new tach cable for the neighbor's crawler from Deere, $58
Outer shell is included.
I don't know if you can get just the cable. Many years ago you could buy speedometer repair cables from the local auto parts store. Don't know if you could make one fit anyway.

2010 Diesel Starter

dlplost,
Heck of a deal. I never thought to ask them if they could rebuild mine.
I just saw a beat up old used starter for a gas 2010 currently 89$ + $30 shipping on eBay.
