2010--No Hydraulic pressure

Thanks, I was just reading the manual and found out I don't have to split the machine. That makes things easier. On the HLR, there is no separate disconnect for the pump. When the engine clutch/cold weather start lever is engaged it shuts everything down past the flywheel. What I find strange is tha...

2010 Hydraulics--no pressure.

Hey Guys, I just drug home the neighbor's 2010 crawler to work on. It has no pressure to run the blade. HLR transmission works fine. 2010's have the auxillary hyd. pump mounted on the front of the transmission, unless they're a bucket loader. Before I split the crawler in two, I'll check the filter ...

JD 40 on eBay

It looks to be a 5 roller. Pads sure look in good shape, I wonder if the rails and sprockets match.

Chewed up ring gear

Thanks for the replies. I"d have never thought of just flipping the ring gear.

It's been a year now and not a hint of a problem...So for the time being, I'm going to let sleeping dogs lie.

Depth shoes for dozer

Hey,
I read a posting about depth shoes. Does anyone have a picture or a description they could post? I have a couple of mounting spots on the bottom of my blade and assumed something was made to mount there, but I've never seen or heard of depth shoes before that posting.

450 engine interchange

I have an "opportunity". Craigslist has a 1971 450B listed that needs an engine. My brother has a 1968 450 with a good engine/blown transmission.

Will the older engine bolt into the '71?

Hiring out

Joel, My experience has been that you'll be lucky to break even... You'll need a good triple axle to haul it around. There's license and tonnage to buy. Old iron; seems like you spend as much time under it as on it. Parts, such as chains and sprockets are getting hard to come by and very expensive. ...

2010 Winch

If I have the numbers wrong, someone let me know... Hi Stretch, If I wrote them down correctly; a JD 3310 or 3315 will bolt on and are comparable to a Series 20 winch. Better yet, they don't rust up and fail to work if not used daily. I have two dead Series 20 winches. Piston rusted and pitted. Prob...

Hey,
My brain unfuzzed. Here is the document from maintenance.

Corret direction of the chain

Hey guys, No one mentioned the proper way to mount the chains on a sprocket. I work in a sawmill; according to the maintenance department the open end of the chain should reach the sprocket first. "The pin at the open end of the link turns in the barrel of the link just ahead." If mounted the other ...

2010 not firing

Many years ago I paid several hundred dollars to have a John Deere field mechanic come out and rap the side of my injector pump with a screw driver.
Don't know if it is your problem, but some shutoff had stuck inside my pump. Hasn't happened since.

Flywheel ring gear chewed up.

Gentlemen, Due to a malfunctioning starter on my JD 410 backhoe, the teeth on the ring gear are about one third to one half gone on the starter side. I have a new starter coming and plan to ignore the situation if it works. I'd like to hear the comments of anyone who has encountered this before. I d...

Set Bolt 2010 steering clutch

Stretch,
If I understand your question correctly, yes, the book calls for one to be used. Mine has them; its serial number is greater than 42000.

2010 Steering clutch drive shaft removal

Stretch,
It's been several years, but if I remember correctly I just threaded a bolt into the end of the shaft and grabbed it with a pair of Vise-Grips attached to my slide hammer. A few taps and out it comes.

JD Series 20 Winch

Stretch The Series 20 Winch is actuated using a control handle mounted on the left fender. It is a double piston affair that uses brake fluid to operate the clutch and/or release the brake. The gear case takes 90 weight oil. The winch works fine if used often and a lot, but sitting unused for long p...
