Re: 6 wy blade rebuild
The only progress has been relocating it a few feet (shuffling stuff on the concrete pad some months ago). There is a sequence of events that must occur first and the list keeps getting longer. Right now the doctors are limiting what I'm allowed to do. Around 6 months ago I got an infection of crypt...

Re: Master pins
A boss I had called them pushing pliers. All he had ever used them for was pushing hose ends off of nipples. There were no large external snap rings in the aircraft we worked on and he didn't venture into working on equipment. I recommend pliers which are built with parallel jaw action. I have fewer...

Re: neats foot foot powder
I remember my father talking about dumping powder on the clutches of junk cranes on drag line operations. I don't remember what the powder was. He also talked about some contractors that gave backhoes overhauls by applying a fresh coat of paint so they looked good on the job. Apparently some contrac...

Re: Another Jinma project
I finally pulled the Farmpro into the shop. I ran a compression test and found a blown head gasket between #s 2 & 3. The sleeves look good so maybe this will be an easy project after all.

Re: up date 1010 injector pump
I'm going to display my ignorance with a question: Do you have to use a thicker head gasket with the head having been machined which would increase the compression ratio or possibly cause clearance issues in the combustion area? I ask because in looking a part offerings for the VW ALH TDI engine, th...

350B listed in Chattanooga Craigslist
In case there is some interest: Listed price is $4500 and is north of Knoxville, TN, almost to the KY line. Looks like a six way blade and the engine and transmission are pulled. The listing indicates some gear and housing issues.

1010 Loader project
I keep bouncing between projects with changing priorities and urgent things along with waiting for parts. Little has been done yet. The Marvel Schebler has been disassembled cleaned and reassembled along with the the fuel line from the pump to carb being soaked and blown out. In the aircraft arena, ...

Re: 10-10 Crawler loader
The 1010 crawler and wheel tractors used the same engines, both gas and diesel. The bolt patterns are the same between the gas and diesel engines so one can replace the other when needed with additional changes for details such as the exhaust being on the right side with diesel engines and on the le...

Re: 10-10 Crawler loader
I have a 1010 with loader that I have just started to work on. It was a diesel that had been switch to gas from a 1010 wheel tractor donor. It's a green engine instead of yellow. I was told it sat for three years before I bought it a couple months ago. I have found the tracked 1010 gas and diesel ai...

Re: Another Jinma project
I pulled the fuel injection pump and made sure the key was in place in the shaft for the drive hub, pulled the cover off of the front of the engine to make sure all timing marks were correct, reinstalled the pump and got it timed. I also tinkered around a bit on hydraulic hose routing for the steeri...

Re: The 1010 Loader is home!
I got the loader off the trailer and onto the concrete today. I had used a Hi-Lift/Handyman jack (use you're preferred descriptive name) to raise the bucket and put a 10 inch length of angle iron on both lifting rams. A come-a-long pulling on the upper track chain got it back to the cross tie ramps ...

Re: Unloading the 1010 loader from the trailer
I was thinking to use wood blocks but there is little area for contact. Angle iron would be superior. Thanks

Unloading the 1010 loader from the trailer
I am about ready to off load the 1010 from the deck over goose neck trailer. The deck is about 28 inches high and the truck is unhooked. I have a three high stack of railroad ties across the back with the bottom two under neath the trailer frame to keep the back of the trailer dropping when the unit...
