I installed a switch to go between the front and rear cylinders.
I just wanted to show how its working.
Brother Dave is my preacher who helped me with allot of the repairs.

A problem I found on my 420c - similar
My 420 would work like the dickens -- hot and cold. Then it would apparently randomly cut of -- it sounded as if either it was out of fuel. Really odd because it would almost cut off and then it would fire and run ragged for a bit. Then it would run well for a long time. Couldn't track it down. Then...

My 1957 420
Well - I've almost gotten my 3 point installed. It was frozen pretty badly with rust welding in the rocker shaft but we did get it freed up. Following Lavoy's advice I filled the thing with axle grease, at this point it has pressure in it but I'm sure it will go away with use. I didn't want to mess ...

Keep the wiggley part down.
I agree if you are buying to play and tinker the older ones are cool. For real work six way from seat, roll cage, and buy ugly. If it was restored there would be receipts.

Dual Controls for the Blade / 3 Pt
I am looking for a set of valves and the entire setup that will operate the blad and the 3 pt. This is the one that sets on the fender. I would like to have all the hard lines if possible. I would like to keep my 420 looking fairly original. I have my 3 point almost ready to go. I know I can do afte...

Make a JIG
Make a jig that you can mount your torch in. Make it a very tight fit that the you can slide the tracks under and keep it straight. If you had access to a plasma cutter that would be best!!

Looking for a Scarifier for a 420 #24?
Howdy,
I am interested in a scarifier to go with my 3 point hitch on my 420.
Does anyone have a decent picture of the #24?
Would I be best off using a box blade style of does anyone know of one for sale?
Mike

My process
Since the new JD part is not longer that paper gasket but is an "O" ring, I decided to use JB Weld to at least give the seal surface a fighting chance. I cleaned the surface as best I could and used tape to line off the area for the seal. http://i1096.photobucket.com/albums/g338/drizski/2012-04-2618...

Fluid
The rockshaft has a filler plug on the back about 1/2 way up the body of the casting, it holds 90 wt trans oil. There is no way for the grease to get up to the top of the rockshaft itself except for a very slight wicking. The shaft is smooth so it doesn't have any way of "picking up" the oil. That w...

Got er moving.
Okay - tried the universal solvent with about 800 degrees of warmth. It worked. It broke free. Left the air chuck hooked up while moved it with a porta power and a sledge. It eventually started to move. Left it over night with PB Blaster and by morning it was leaking out both ends. http://i1096.phot...

My solution
I drained the oil on mine, pulled the oil filter. Filled it with cheap 30 wt (if there is such a thing) and ran it a bit. Drained it hot and left the plug out all night from the pan and the oil filter.
Filled it with clean oil and new filter the next day.
Works like a champ.

Rockshaft Freeing
I am working on freeing up a Rockshaft on a 420 Crawler. I have turned it over. Put an air valve on the drain plug, filled it with PB Blaster with 120# of air in it. Hopefully it will free up. I have a porta-power pushing on the shaft. I would appreciate any suggestions. I saw one by Lavoy about fil...
