3-71 detroit same as 2-53 ??
I was wondering if you know where the fuel pump is on a 3-71 detroit.
my 2-53 is bolted to the blower.
yes this is the hd-7 Iam thinking of buying.
Iam going to go take one more look at it this week.
where is the fuel pump and are the injectors in the head like the 2-53???
thanks

I need a starter for the 3-71
I need inspection plates for the same motor.
Also front left idler assy, (its gone) the large front wheel is spoked if it matters.
I am trying to get a rough figure for the above parts. so I can consider it when I make an offer for the rig.
thanks

Still not sure what’s going on. But I do notice Condensation or a bit more than that dripping from the breather ontop of the valv...

run away
Yep I have seen allot of posts about that.
I was just wondering if this is a pre-curser to that condition.
I called the Detroit shop about the problem.
They said check all breathers and drains, most likely the problem.
We will see
Thanks

Lavoy, Have you ever seen this before?? Where is the vent hole on the block? I think there is a small copper tube that screws into the side of the block its on the opposite side of the blower , the end just hangs down. I bet that’s it. 1. what about theory that the rings are letting pressure i...

crank case pressure????
The engine runs great with loads of power with clean exhaust.
Black smoke only when under a heavy load...
What do you think????
But.... I do notice that there is no blow by coming out of the valve cover vent cap any more.
Maybe it’s plugged up??????

440 crank case oil coming out of oil dip stick
Hello,
I have a 440 icd
I noticed that there is oil coming out of the dip stick oil hole.
Get worse with rpm.
Seems to want to shoot out, even with dip stick in place.
Any ideas???
Maybe blower seal to block is leaking????????
What do you think?
Thanks
