I Think Your Looking @ The Loader Serial #........ 40 C 's Serial # Plates Were On The Bellhousing (Behind The Carb, And Below The Starter).... 40c Didnt Start Till 1953-1955 I Think......

I Went Through This Also........ I Ended Up, Drilling And Tapping About 6 Holes In The Tube, And Added Grease Fittings.... I Kept Pumping Grease In Them Every Day.... After A Week I Was Pumping The Dirt And Rust Out... It Worked Great.... I Then Brazed The Holes Up And Painted It.........

There's A 1010c On Ebay And The Serial Number Plates On The Bell Housing!!!!!!!!! Is That Something They Did Factory Or Did Someone Move It There?????? I Have 3- 1010's And All Have The Tags On The Engine Block...... Mine Are All Early'er Serial # The One On Ebay Is 51000 Serial #...

My Guess Is That The Head Is Cracked...... The White Is Anti-Freeze...... I Have Rebuilt 4 40-430 Engines And They Always Have A Cracked Head.... Could Also Be Condensation, From The Cold And Warm Cycles.......

Yes, Lots Of Work....... But There Was A Hydo. And A Gear Reverser Avalible.. Each Needs Different Bell Housing.... I Think You Need A New Input Shaft For The Transmission And A New Bell Housing... So That Means Major Tear Down.... I Dont Think I Would Attempt That Project.... Also You Cant Use The ...

Take Them Apart..... Clean And Inspect Them And Grease And Re-Install....... The Little Time You Spend Now Will Assure You There In Good Shape... And If Something Goes Wrong Later You'll Kick Your Self For Not Digging Deeper..... Just Think If You Have To Tare It Apart Again!!!!! Remove Track, Sproc...

The 1010 C Part # Is AT 11853 T Up To Ser # 31000.... I Think There The Same .... I Dont Have A 440 Book To Look It Up..... Hope That Helps...

Hyd. Pump Has To Come Off....... It's Easy Tho... 2 Bolts And Loosen The Hyd. Lines... Slide It Off And Then The Belt Will Go On.....
