Re: 350c running warm

I typically shoot the head area found out my gauge was reading about 15/20 degrees warmer than actual. Started shooting all my equipment found out how lousy temp gauges actually are. Like was mentioned i did like to shoot the top/bottom radiator just for fun to see how well all that was working.

Re: 350c running warm

If you have access to a non contact temp sensor use that to get actual engine temps.

Re: '73 - 450B Crawler/Loader/Hoe Restoration

I've had to put heat on the cylinder ends around the gland to get some of them to break loose. If you pay close attention you'll notice cylinders on older equipment with black ends (about 2" back) and that is what causes that. I tried punches in the past and it never really works out. If the gland s...

Re: '73 - 450B Crawler/Loader/Hoe Restoration

I replaced my hard pipe that runs front to rear of my 450c with just hydraulic hose and a few fittings. Now I have something I can remove and replace if needed. I realize you 're going for a restoration and want it to look right but I think it's more practical with hose. Just my 2 cents.

Re: 450B Radiator Replacement

I've never seen a one that a decent dedicated radiator shop could not fix. I know they exist but they normally can work miracles.

I finally figured it out....

After struggling to rebuild a cylinder on my 329D John Deere skid steer with a crazy internal snap ring I was talking to a friend about if Engineers just hate humanity or just ignorant to problems they create. He told me , he heard from a cousin, who heard from a friend's dad's brother's sister that...

Re: John Deere 450

My only thought for this being a "small issue" is it if it were a linkage issue. If the linkage was so worn it's letting it be in two gears maybe or not getting into gear all the way? Either way I would 100% figure this out before I used it at all, this could lead to a mountain of problems if that H...

Rain cap on the exhaust appears to be up, that doesn't bode well.

I have high hopes the 5 gallon bucket in the picture was over the exhaust....

That appears to me to be in fairly good shape overall. I would 100% try and get that running find out what is going on. It's more than likely broken to be left in that location.

Re: Split link on JD450C undercarriage

My salt tracks do not have a gator style master link. I had to pressure wash it and get on my hands and knees and I found one link that had score marks in the side and a very slight mushrooming, that's my master pin. I looked a couple times just quickly, it's a very slight difference. You have to be...

Re: JD 450 Hydraulic Filter

If memory servers me right fluid is returned thru the filter. If the filter was offset enough it was blocking the return line with the wall of the filter, that might give some interesting results. Either way , you need to get the filter on correctly else you risk ruining other components with unfilt...
