Re: Anyone familiar with throttle cable troubles ?
Every now and then We would have an aircraft with stiff control cables for the throttle or carb heat. If the cable had a solid jacket we would remove the cable from the bellcrank it mounted to and slide a length of hose over it and clamp it tight on the housing. Then fill the open end of the added h...

Re: 440 another engine question
If you want to be artsy-craftsy you could put a plug just below to wrinkle and electroplate to build it up. Afterwards, use a Lisle 1500 hone to bring the area back out to match without introducing a conical shape. I think a battery charger, some acid for the solution and some donor material to matc...

Re: New Shirt
It would be similar to patten rights. When taking a media class in college I was taught that college students a re immune to such laws and can copy all they want for educational purposes such as class projects. I was also told that companys can legally copy a pattented item up to 3 times for with in...

Re: use of ether to try and start,
If the voltage at the starter is low you could look over the battery cables, see if there is a hot spot where the voltage drop is occurring.

Re: use of ether to try and start,
I have gotten reluctant to use either on an engine I'm not sure is happy with it being used. I bought a Chinese 3 cylinder tractor that had new injectors and pump installed. I saw a video of it running after installation on the owners phone after he got it running (was rather happy with the resurrec...

Re: New/ rebuild injectors
I bought one of those hand operated pumps with the gage to indicate what pressure the injectors pop off at. Being a lever operated pump, the pressure changes quickly when it happens. Mine cost about $80 on ebay I think. I have used it on my two Chinese tractors. One was a three cylinder with recentl...

In case someone is interested. From the listing, it runs well but one of the new steering clutches quit working and the primary clutch can be sluggish at disengaging.

Re: Adding a Tachometer
On my old Ford with the Navastar 7.3l IDI the alternator provides pulses that are used to determine the RPM which is common practice in the automotive industry. There is a lead which is tied to only one winding to give a single pulse per revolution and these are used to derive engine RPM. The pulley...
