Re: Oil and oil recommendations
Hi, I buy my oil from Deere. So, Turf-Gard 10w30. Before that it was their Torq-Gard which was also 10w30 IIRC. Mine is a 58 and was sold by my Uncle out of the family JD dealership new to a dairy farmer. Dad grabbed it when it was traded in 1966 for, I think, a Mannheim 820 with a loader. I wound ...

Re: Dry in the head
Yes there should be oil in the head... On my "58" 420 c there is a small oil line on the rear top of the engine block going to the head which supplies oil to the head!

1958 John deere 420c track adjuster conversion possible?
Hi yall So on my 1958 420c loader crawler my track adjustment nuts and stud are corroded so bad that I can not adjust them. Is there any way to put hydraulic or 1010 style adjusters on it? I think I will have to replace them regardless just trying to decide what is feasible! Thanks!!

Re: John deere 420c 5 roller top idler
So this one doesn't need a grease zerk? Just oil? Also what would a set of seals and bearings cost per idler? Or do you think I need to replace the whole assembly? It is not rolling smoothly at all.
