It turns out all my issue was bad connections....

Jim, It has an old anmeter that shows a negative with the lights on but no postive when it is running. I have the wire running from alternator to ammeter and then from ammeter to battery. Yes all 12v negative ground. Is there is a reason it is fluctuating real fast? The volts I mean?

Hi so I just replaced my generator with an alternator ( it was converted to 12 v before i got it and they just disconnected the junk generator :evil: )And I put a gm 1 wire alternator on and It seems the volts fluctuate from 17 to 14 volts the higher the crawler rpms the less it fluctuates... Ok Yes the long side is toward the transmission and i will try to watch that when I take it apart.

Should i replace the disc too? It is glazed some but not to bad.

Ok thanks for clearing that up, so i am probably looking at a new pressure plate and disc, though this one looks good not a resurface job. All I can say is it must be defective!! thanks for that helpful info!

Lavoy I didn't put new pressure plate and disc in but it was done right before I got it. I adjusted the pressure plate while it was apart. but I really am wondering about my fly wheel needing resurfaced.. It looks like pepboys does it for 35 dollars! I wont be out much!

Ok I will double check the free travel but 99.9% sure its right. Do any of you know what it costs to have my flywheel turned? As far as the disc is concerned I am probably going to leave it on for the time being, thanks Jim for that valuble info!
