420 Crawler
Lavoy, that's it Greenville Steel Car Company, I knew it had car in it. I have broken the stops on the tilt cyclinders once or twice, acting stupid. It is a very nice loader setup. Tom

420 Crawler
TI 420, believe it or not I have the same crawler. The loader is made by autocar I think. I have the same snow shoes and the scarifier. I only have three shanks, I would think having all 5 shanks is pretty rare. You will not believe the power of the loader, the front boom cylinders are extremely pow...

Front engine mount 1959 440 ICD
I am looking for a front motor mount for a 440 ICD. It is a 1959 model. Lavoy is there a company remaking them? Do you have one? In the parts book it is called an accessory bracket. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Tom.

Looking for a parts crawler
I am in looking for a parts crawler. Specifically a 440, it can be ic or icd. 1959 would be an ideal year or I will take what I can get. I am in the Midwest, so I would only be able to get it from states around Illinois. If anyone knows of a good bone yard or parts crawler near Central Illinois. I w...

Adjuster
Hello, if it were me and it looks like the adjusters have not been touched in a long time, then I would take them off and rebuild them. It takes some 1" all thread and some 1" inch nuts. About 6 feet of all thread and 8 nuts and assoc hardware. I rebuilt my 420 about 8 years ago and do not regret it...

system ground
Brian, just to add my two cents, I have a 420 that had a ground problem between the point set and the backing plate of the distributor. I fought this problem for a long time, new points would make it run for a while, but then no start. I finally pulled the distibutor and sandblasted the backing plat...

Michael, Excellent find. If you do not have a manual there is someone on this site that sells a cd for the 440, well worth the investment. Good luck. Tom

Poll for what kind of crawler you have.
Well, it looks like the 440's edged out the 420's by a nose. Thanks to everyone that voted. Next time I will include all models. Too bad you can only vote once. Some people have a very nice collection of crawlers. Thanks, Tom.

Sorry, I had enough trouble putting this together. The web site kept refusing the post. I had to type it in about 4 times before it took it. I will put you down for an MC vote though. Thanks, Tom.

motors
On the subject of engines, you would think that the weak link would be the clutch. But, I know from experience that the clutch will not slip and the finals will shear the bull gear teeth. The clutch arrangement is very good. The 2-53 develops alot of low end torque. The 2-71 would just be a shreadin...

Fuel Filter for a 440 ICD
Bryce, believe it or not that filter is close, but not quite tall enough. I then went through Hastings filters and their help line found the filter with the dimensions of the old filter. The filter is a Baldwin # F922-c. Their website lists this filter to fit the manufacturer of the filter housing. ...
