Re: Help dating my JD350 by serial number

I agree with Stan you have the loader attachment serial number. This note from the straight 350 parts catalog that applies to that. " *NOTE: SERIAL NUMBER PLATES ON JD350 CRAWLER LOADERS BEAR THE NUMBER 7350 AS A BASIC PREFIX PORTION OF THE SERIAL NUMBER. THIS IS NOT A MACHINE MODEL NUMBER AND SHOUL...

Re: 350B Injection pump issue

Unless you banged or otherwise put stress on the throttle shaft during the pulling and installing the engine, I doubt the leak has anything to do with that. It is likely its time had run out and showed up now. As for it not shutting off I would start by checking to see that a wire didn't get crossed...

Re: JD 550 Transmission ?

I suggest you check through your Operator's Manual (OMT70877 for a straight 550) to get the correct info. My 450E Operator's Manual has drawings that show the temperature ranges in relationship to the color bands of the gauges in the "Operating the Engine" section and I expect the 550 manual will as...

Re: 350 steering clutches

Using the link I posted for you a few posts ago will take you to the catalog page with the breakdown of the pump drive. I think you are talking about item key # 19. I don't remember it you said this is a dozer or loader and depending on whether it is a dozer or loader the coupling is different for t...

Re: JD350 thru JD350D Serial Numbers

Give Lavoy a phone call, he may have a source or a recommendation. Most of the undercarriage suppliers have warehouses and/or ship all around the country. Your local JD dealer (or Case, Cat, etc.) might have some options besides OEM JD pads and bolts. And I should be correct; they are called OPEN CE...

Re: JD350 thru JD350D Serial Numbers

Looks good, should do a lot of work for you. I'm with Lavoy and B Town on the track pads. If you keep them use care or it will get expensive. A good sized highway/earthwork construction company I worked for years ago had a 983 (D8 size, 6 yd. bucket) Cat crawler loader, along with a lot of other Cat...

Re: 350B Bell housing oil leak

I would say the front frame (the hyd pump and radiator mount on) can be left on the engine during removal.

You should be at the reverser pump and gaskets that would leak into that flywheel area when the engine is pulled. Be sure to look the rear main over well you could have leaks in both areas.

Re: Oil pump fitting size for pressure line 40c

Here is a link to the parts catalog open to the page with the hydraulic oil pump, which I think you are referring to. https://partscatalog.deere.com/jdrc/sidebyside/equipment/67973/referrer/navigation/pgId/278897 If this is correct I believe you are looking at item key # 14. That fitting is 3/8 Male...

Re: JD350 thru JD350D Serial Numbers

The site has a dedicated picture server you can use by setting up an account with Lavoy. It is separate from this site so you have to log into it. You can use the same user name and password there as here if you want. Some use a link to google drive or some other third party, not sure just how they ...

Re: JD350 thru JD350D Serial Numbers

A 350 can be a good tractor. In theory a later one would be better, but the maintenance they have had can make a difference. Like most things improvements are usually made on things as they get newer. In this case the 350Cs (production started in 1975) had wet steering clutches which are less likely...

Re: 350B Bell housing oil leak

There are gaskets and seals related to the reverser and its pump inside that housing. It might be just the pump or it might be the front clutch cover the pump mounts on. You will have to see if you can spot any wash marks to help confirm where the leak might be. I would consider doing reseal/replace...

Hi Dan, Sorry if this is rehashing info you already have. That manual is on line, in the John Deere parts catalogs. It is only about a dozen pages including the introduction section. If you don't have any responses to your request, you should be able to print it out from there if you want a hard cop...

Re: 1010 dozer woes

Personally I would be looking for a 350 or 450, C series or newer with wet steering clutches. Those will still have things to tinker on. I think even the straight 350/450 and the B series would be better for your needs and most parts are more readily available used. Not to say the 1010s were not goo...

Re: JD350 thru JD350D Serial Numbers

That is the correct format for the machine serial number. This serial number confirms the machine is not a 350C. This serial number indicates it is a 1965 straight 350 crawler loader with a diesel engine and sliding gear transmission with a reverser. 1965 was the first year of the 350 model producti...
