Re: Steering problems 350b
It's woohoo time! The bigass ball joint remover came in. Wasn't suppose to be here till Friday. Gonna give it a go! JWB, I'm working on a pic server that will be dedicated to JDcrawlers for posting pics. Once I get that done can you repost the pics of that pin press you are talking about? I'm intere...

Re: Guages for 350b - RPM guage direction
Jim, thanks for the tip on Steiner. I checked them out and they seem to be a bit shy for Deere parts as well... particularly in gauges. I will keep them in my book marks however and check them out every now and again. Bruce, I have an extensive background in electronics and have considered pulling t...

Re: Steering problems 350b
Had someone suggest to me the obvious..... "Why don't you adjust your tension arm back and push the idler back with enough slack to roll the track off of it?" I thought...... "Shut uuuup!" Certainly sounded plausible to me so I removed the screw and used a 10 ton hydraulic ram to push the idler back...

Re: Guages for 350b - RPM guage direction
Ok... I'll provide the answer to my own question.... which is usually the indicator that one is losing their marbles. I mean... it's ok to talk to yourself.... but when you start answering yourself..... all bets are off. Anyway.... there really isn't much for John Deere after market gauges ou...

Re: 440ic stering clutch replace
Hey dtools1, I am not certain but I think some of the parts on the 440i are cross compatible with the 350b which is what I have. I have begun to reach out to Lavoy to find out if he will have parts I know I will need but would like to also entertain what you may have for spare parts. I know I am goi...

Guages for 350b - RPM guage direction
I need to replace all the gauges on my newly acquired 350b crawler. Sure wish John Deere got the same kind of attention that Massey Ferguson seems to get on after market gauges. Anyway.... thought I would inquire after having searched through the forums here if anyone knew of a good source for 'reas...

Re: Steering problems 350b
Hi Jim, This seems like quite an inexpensive way to go for track pin removal. It will stand up to the stress and pressures required to punch that pin out? Threads won't strip? I'll have one here this week if that's the case. Can you provide some dimensions on it? I'm concerned that the throat may no...

Re: Steering problems 350b
Not to deviate to far from the topic here but perhaps I can assist in the pic hosting department. As I stated earlier, I own an ISP. We host 100's of web sites, provide email services, essentially all the things that are associated with Internet connectivity and services. It is conceivable that we c...

Re: Steering problems 350b
Thank you NWJD for the JWB reference. I did find the post however I have found that I have been having issues seeing most of the pics posted through this forum. All pics are substituted with an oversized icon that reads "Please update your account to allow 3rd party hosting". I have to include here ...

Re: Steering problems 350b
I do have a torch. Also have a plasma cutter which may do a better job. Key, like Lavoy said, would be to avoid the links with it. I will begin to look into that and see which way I may go. Have to get my tanks refilled for the torch option. Lavoy, should this conversation be moved to a new thread o...

Re: Steering problems 350b
ahhhhh.... to be 140 lbs again. I've blossomed over the years to a shapely 240lbs. Fortunately I'm 6' tall and it's all mid section but it still drives me nuts. Ok.... first, thanks for responding dtoots1, I really appreciate it. I have found your posts and am going through them now. Can I assume yo...

Re: Steering problems 350b
Hello Lavoy, I'm pleased to see your response here. As I have sifted through these threads I've seen your comments sprinkled through out and have learned much from them already. I added to my post above that I did indeed already purchase a full set of manuals. The problem is they assume you have the...

Re: Steering problems 350b
Greetings all, I'm a newbie to crawler talk and not sure if it's ok to piggy back on this thread or if I should have started a new one. Also I am a newbie to a '73 JD350b-b I acquired in an auction a couple weeks ago. I can't complain to much regarding the issues I'm faced with as I only paid $1950....
